Based on the misinformation you were given I would be able to get you installed for free. Send me a message if your interested.

grefft join:2012-02-02 Brooklyn, NY | Apologies for reopening this thread but I'm a little confused about the best course of action. I live in Brooklyn in a neighborhood where there is no Fios
I've lived with slow DSL for years and just decided to go with TWC Wideband 50mbs. As I was ordering it online I called support to confirm I could use my own DOCSIS 3 modem and they told me I could. I wish I had read this forum first though as now I am concerned I was lied to. should I go out and buy my own modem? or will I just be adding the time of shopping and then returning the modem into my hectic life?
any advice would be greatly appreciated. |

grefft join:2012-02-02 Brooklyn, NY | CptGemini, I appreciate the quick response. The only reason I'm considering doing anything different is that the modem will be in my basement (2 floors and 2 locked doors beneath me). Meaning, if I need to reboot the modem or cycle it often it will be a major pain in the but. From what I've heard, their preferred motorolas need a lot of TLC. Knowing that do you still think it's not worth it? |

| Well when its in bridge mode it act's as a modem only with the router function disabled so there may not be a need to reboot or power cycle it often unless something comes up. I do recall reading not just in this thread though but in others that for D3 services you have to use their garbage, it may vary market to market though. You can try to see if they will activate it when the installer gets there but its all up in the air at this point imo. |
