@clearwire-wmx.net

Watching this closely about Clear December 1

December 1 seems to be the day that clear will be close to default

$60 for unlimited internet (at decent download rates 3-15 too versus 1.5 DSL) is awesome!

If I have to go back to DSL I am looking at $90 after taxes probably for the same thing. Mind you I have the potential for faster DSL rates now ... but when I get 3-15 now with CLEAR ... I don't need faster really.

I hope CLEAR can keep going ...

I won't go back to DSL. I'll just go with a hotspot to use my laptop at home and WiFi out and about. Most things I do now I use the smartphone anyway.

If I have to retire this Desktop earlier than planed so be it.

Even though Clearwire will continue to have financial difficulties, even a possible default, I doubt the company and the service will go away. There's too much infrastructure in place for them to just fold and leave. Someone will take up the leavings and continue to provide service. At least I hope so -- Clear is my only broadband solution here in the Abilene sticks!

Remember Ricochet?

The "leavings" are going to be the spectrum licenses and leases, not the cell hardware.

For ones invested in Clearwire all this default talk is a concern. As an Clear user I see no problems for a long time, at least three years if not longer. Sprint has said they will be selling 4G WiMax devices until the end of 2012 and one would expect they should be able to supply service for two years after that. Sprint owns over 50% of Clearwire and at this time all of their 4G devices operate over the Clear network. I don't think Sprint will let the Clear network go dark for several years.

With 9 1/2 million subscriptions (wholesale and retail) at last count and over 300 million in revenue last quarter I don't think the network will be dismantled anytime soon.

I hope you're right -- I think you are. As much as I despise the company's lack of support and delivery for many of its customers, it is my only realistic hope for broadband.

Side note: regarding your comment, isn't Clear's broadband delivery model different from Sprint's, even though they may occupy the same towers?

Same towers, antennas and radio equipment, but different networks.
