Hey Teamaster long time no see! Yes you are correct. Tell your friends though. I think you guys may feel a bit left out and I want to change that! Before joining the SMT at BHN it was a bit difficult for me to assist you guys in the other markets. That however has changed. If you need anything at all I'm here and can assist you regardless of the issue, concern or need.

**you make it sound like Bakersfield is a one horse town...you've moved up a bit since I lived out west...I think you guys have three horses now at least

There are some other people who are on DSLR that are from Bakersfield. Not just me :P But yeah, the service is pretty stable here, BHN does a good job keeping the service going.

I was just wondering if you do sales too...I have a bud who wants to leave ATT since he's getting capped with his ADSL connection.

Can we get some better in-bound/out-bound peering onto tbone.rr.com (AS7843) from BHN MI Metro Detroit into Chicago or something (Chicago as #1, WDC/NYC as #2) from the TWC NE Ohio (Cleveland/Columbus) border routers instead of hauling traffic to WDC right now for outbound peering and then back to Chicago and back to my regional peering/data-center stuff at work (I manage servers and work from home sometimes).

It would really be good.

Comcast around me and Charter in more rural areas has a direct west-wards peering route to Chicago, why can't BHN!?

Willzzz get with me and send me some examples and I'' do my best to get it looked at.

The place is switching providers to a direct Chicago and WDC second route anyways so that shouldn't matter.

Pinging 107.14.19.16 with 32 bytes of data:
Reply from 107.14.19.16: bytes=32 time=34ms TTL=56
Reply from 107.14.19.16: bytes=32 time=62ms TTL=56
Reply from 107.14.19.16: bytes=32 time=46ms TTL=56
Reply from 107.14.19.16: bytes=32 time=71ms TTL=56

Ping statistics for 107.14.19.16:
Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 34ms, Maximum = 71ms, Average = 53ms

The earlier one was 34ms.

I'm not getting packet loss so it's not really that big of a deal.

As long as I'm getting decent end to end performance.

BTW I assume the TWC/RR backbone uses ICMP de-prioritization like any other backbone network these days!? That would easily explain it.

3 15 ms 11 ms 11 ms 72-31-204-150.net.bhntampa.com [72.31.204.150]
4 15 ms 11 ms 16 ms 72-31-204-130.net.bhntampa.com [72.31.204.130]
5 9 ms 11 ms 9 ms 72-31-204-139.net.bhntampa.com [72.31.204.139]
6 13 ms 14 ms 14 ms tge0-2-1.ar01.clevohek.mwrtn.rr.com [65.189.143.30]
7 22 ms 22 ms 22 ms ae10.tr00.clmkohpe.mwrtn.rr.com [65.25.137.133]
8 34 ms 35 ms 32 ms ae-9-0.cr0.chi30.tbone.rr.com [107.14.19.16]
9 32 ms 34 ms 34 ms ae-1-0.pr0.chi10.tbone.rr.com [66.109.6.155]
10 35 ms 35 ms 34 ms xe-5-0-0.ar1.ord1.us.nlayer.net [69.31.111.125]

AE = Aggregated Ethernet Interface.

XE = Same thing but in Juniper connotation.

Yeah I know I can complain about the stupid Local->Southfield->Cleveland->Columbus (Layer 3 Routing)->Chicago.

The earlier thing I was complaining about was really the local provider being crappy.

BHNtechXpert, I am doing well! I noticed the in-bound routes (in-bound from internet to my cable modem) moved to Chicago lately and out-bound is still WDC but that's fine because the average consumer is mostly downloading stuff from the internet's... right from the 'cloud'!?

The only thing recently that's semi bugging me lately is my speed's on the 20Mb package go down to 9-12Mb during prime times of the night (like right now, 9pm) and then jump up to 15-17Mb even doing a speed-test even when on your INTERNAL NETWORK:

»speedtest.michigan.mybrighthouse.com/

So I know its the access portion of it and congestion... Same with my downloads of big stuff (MS Updates, Linux server ISO'es, etc, etc).

Tonight I did more unscientific tests and it peaks at 15Mb every few minutes then goes down to every few seconds to 5-10Mb and back up and down.

Upload is solid @ 1.92Mb which is fine (rated @ 2Mb).

BTW I replied to your IM/message.

I know the pricing model is completely different but my Verizon 4G LTE right now peaks at 9-12Mb down and 10Mb up with a 54ms latency, only 20ms more with 100% mobility prime time like this... It goes as high as 20Mb like my cable modem during the day or consistently when I'm near a cell site (corporate complexes, etc). Yeah I know its not a completely fair comparison because its capped in GB'es but I get full 10Mb uploads on it.

Can we order new bundle packages from BHN website, even though we are already customer?

Like a TV-RR Lightning combo with movie pass and HD DVR for $141.94.

I pay the same now being on old plan and old RR turbo with only 15 down.

Sure you can order whatever bundle you see there that applies to you. They will confirm the order when it's final or contact you if you have any questions.
