Re: [TV] On-Screen Guide

Any chance an HD guide would be released like DirecTV just released?

I'll snap some pics and you will see what I mean. Its the same size if not smaller than a normal digital box....

BHNtechXpert, is there any chance BHN will update their UI on the guide? I know a lot of other providers are starting to update to HD guides for their HD boxes, any chance BHN is going to do this anytime soon?

This is actually a constantly evolving feature...so the answer is yes. I am also working on the Cisco guide size concern several of you have raised. Having the Cisco DVR's now I understand what you are talking about.

This is great news! I realize that doesn't mean any time soon but I would love to see an HD GUI on these boxes. I think the current interface has become extremely outdated. I realize many people are comfortable with it, but as you know sometimes because your comfortable with something doesn't always mean it's not time to improve it!

I had noticed the Cisco issue for quite some time now. I remember reading here on DSLR a few years back when the Samsung boxes first came out that they stretched the guide but the Cisco boxes did not. I went through a lot to get the Samsung boxes but glad I did. Not only did they stretch the guide, but they seemed much more responsive then the Cisco boxes (in my experience anyway).

Let me clarify one thing... when I meant evolving feature I mean the guide in general is an ever evolving feature. We're always looking for ways to improve this as demonstrated by recent updates a couple of months ago. As for the specifics on the Cisco guide I just got started on this so as you said I have no dates on when or if that will change BUT I do understand what you are talking about now and that is half the battle.

Thanks for being on the case....as to what may be done to get the Cisco DVR's Guie to fill an LCD screen as do the SamSung Boxes. BHN is always looking for constantency in their products, so maybe this issue just slipped by and has therefore not been addressed.

I am interested in the HD size in the new tiny DVR you now have....if your able to disclose that information.

Will look forward to reading your findings on the Guide.....Thanks again

Non of the cisco's fill the screen. the dvr, regular HD, the new ones, none. they all have the unstretched guide.

Thanks Tim..... BHNtechExpert was going to investigate why the Guides in the Cisco's don't fill the screen, and, if the Cisco's can't be the same as the SamSungs.....it could be just a software update....so that the guides will display the same way on both brands......

Agree that the BH guide could be easily improved. The two exact items that are problematic for me are addressed in this thread: the lack of an HD UI and the inability to filter out unsubscribed/unwanted channels. I just wanted to add my voice to the chorus.

For me, the channel filter is, honestly, way more important, especially since BHN maintains multiple channel-spots for HD/SD networks. This means, literally, twice as many channel-listings as necessary. Plus, there's all that porn in the middle, which makes for great channel-surfing with the kids! But a full 16x9 guide would be excellent too.
