 | Streaming to TV I would like to stream movies from my NAS box (which can act as media server) to my HDTV. The TV and DVD player don't support DLNA. I'm looking for an option to be able to stream movies directly to my TV. Any suggestions would be appreciated..
TIA |

 | reply to samurai123 I just installed a WD TV Live for a friend, and he loves it. Runs $99, but I've heard rumors of closer to $50 for black friday sales. |

 | reply to samurai123 I use a PS3 Slim to stream movies from a Western Digital My Book Live 2TB NAS. Works great! |

 | reply to samurai123 So far I see WD TV Live provides more video file format support. I just wish it had 1000Mbps Ethernet port. Does anyone know about Roku 2 if it provides variety of files formats? I was thinking about replacing my 3D DVD player with one having DLNA but they support very few video file formats. |
|
 | Never mind. It seems Roku doesn't support DLNA.
I think WD TV LIVE is a good option. |

 | As a streaming device, the WD Live is great. (mind you, I've only worked with the newest model) I am used to HTPCs and media center extenders, and compared to those, the WD is pretty lacking on the interface. But then again, WD is only $100. -- Intel i7-2600k /ASRock P67 Extreme4 /4x 4Gb G.Skill /2x Intel 510 series 250Gb SSD /3x WD20EADS 2TB /2x PNY GTX 260 /Silverstone 850W /Custom water cooler /Antec Twelve-Hundred |

 | I do agree.. The latest WD Live has 1Gb Ethernet.. nice!
I'm going to buy it...
Thanks |

If you're really into ripping DVDs/BDs, etc then the PS3 probably is NOT the way to go... |

If you're really into ripping DVDs/BDs, etc then the PS3 probably is NOT the way to go... maybe not, but i generally rip the DVD's using AVCHD and AAC formats, they work and look great on the PS3 along with providing smaller file sizes. -- Suffolk County NY Police Feed - »www.scpdny.com PS3 Gaming Feed - »www.livestream.com/elitedata |

 | reply to samurai123 Finally bought WD Live SMP. |

 | You might want to check for firmware updates before you spend much time setting everything else up. I seem to remember mine had to be reset after one of the updates, and I had to re-enter everything after. -- Intel i7-2600k /ASRock P67 Extreme4 /4x 4Gb G.Skill /2x Intel 510 series 250Gb SSD /3x WD20EADS 2TB /2x PNY GTX 260 /Silverstone 850W /Custom water cooler /Antec Twelve-Hundred |
