Table top radio, help pls.

hello hello,

I'd like to buy my uncle a desktop radio (am/ fm/ stereo)

He isnt going to use Cd's or Ipods or anything. Hes 87 and just likes to listen to ball games and some $$ reports and stuff. If it has a CD player in it so be it.

I would like it to be stereo. Not a cheepie and dont wanna go for my lungs either.

last year I got him a nice 42" Samsung LED.
he still likes listening to the damn radio LOL

I would say anything up to 300 - 400 is ok.

My boss has a radio from Tivoli Audio on her desk - they make very nice-looking radios, it would probably make a nice gift for an older person. They are elegant and not too tech-y looking.

I think the Tivoli would be nice, from what I hear they sound good and it looks easy to operate.

In my office I have the Boston Acoustics Receptor HD and the sound is phenomenal. They don't make it anymore, but the make the Solo which is Mono:

If stereo is not a dealbreaker, I'd highly recommend the Grundig GS450DL.

It's largish, but portable and has exceptionally clear reception and sound quality.

At $89 it won't break the bank and should keep your uncle very happy.

I had a similar experience with my folks a few years ago. The radio is still very important to them. My local barber had a Bose Wave Radio in his shop and it sounds great. I ended up buying them the Waveradio and it was a huge success. It's one of the few electronic gifts I gave them that is still used. It's pricey but I don't regret the purchase, it's very simple to use and the sound quality is amazing.

Your uncle is a lucky guy to have a nephew who cares for him like you do..
