Springfield, MO - Why?

Why is it so difficult to find a decent service in this city? I'm moving from the country into town and from 1.5MB service to the hope of getting 10MB service every once in a while.

Am I stuck with Mediacom (and I've read every nightmare on these threads) or is there some not-so-obvious thing that I'm missing.

I'll be moving to the Phelps Grove/MSU area.
