DIR-655 Rev B Firmware that keeps 40Hz Locked

Hello,

I recently picked up D-Link DIR-655 router Revision B with Firmware 2.02. The problem that I am facing is the router falls back on the channel width and sets itself to 20MHz with max 130mbps speed. I have run inSSIDer and analyzed channels used by other wi-fi signals and set it to use channel 2.

On every reboot, the router sets the channel width to 20/40Hz and then within minutes (sometimes in hours) it brings it down to 20Hz there by fixing the max speed to 130mbps. I have tried the default Intel N wifi that is on the laptop and also with compatible D-Link DWA-140. I have also tried with only D-Link DWA-140 attached to laptop, but still the speed comes down to 130mbps from inital 267/300 mbps.

I was wondering if anybody has a firmware that I can purchase, that forces 40Hz only channel width for a DIR-655 Rev B router.

I have tried other firmwares such as DIR655A4_FW134NAb03.bin and DIR655B1_FW201NAB14.bin, but these were not compatible with the router.

If there is no way out, I would rather use wired network, but then it beats the whole purpose of purchasing this expensive router of N 300 class.

Please help.

My D-Link DIR-655 Hardware Version: A4 with Firmware Version: 1.21 works nicely and never drops down speed on me.

EDIT: Correction: the above is true only when all traffic is going from router to WiFi devices. As soon as there some significant amount of traffic in the opposite direction, speed from router to WiFi devices drops down by 50%.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

It is because you use the 130mbps wifi adapter. You should get a new 200mbps wifi adapter.
