| School Bus Cameras Be aware that in July the state passed a law allowing municipalities to contract with a private company to install cameras on school buses, for the purpose of generating citations for drivers passing with the red lights on.
Someone's tossing out press releases; this was all over local radio and TV today.

| I don't pass school buses with yellow or red lights flashing. However I'm concerned that if drivers ever get a cut they'll wait until a car is just past the lights and then turn them on.
The law also seems to fine the owner of the vehicle rather than the driver.
This seems a bit odd to me, as the owner of property is being fined for how it was used by another.

| reply to gregamy This doesn't have anything to do about making it safer for children to get on or off the school bus. This is nothing more than a money grab by cities and towns that are low on funds. It's a $465 dollar revenue generator whenever the camera takes a picture. What city/town wouldn't sign up for and be supportive of such revenue generating scam? -- "The entire process is simply a game in which voters transfer power back and forth between the two wings of what is really just one big political party; the Statist Party" - Jacob G. Don't know about the school bus cameras, but a family member who lives out west, who rented a car while visiting people down in Jersey, got tagged with a fee/fine (60 days later) for improper use of an EZ-Pass tag and failure to pay the toll. The car wasn't registered to the EX-Pass tag so they used a camera pix of the car/license plate when it went through the toll booth to track them down through the rental car agency. They are the only people I know who've been tracked down and sent a notice. The fee/fine was something like $80. |

Why they could not do it automatically when they found it a rental car, beats me, but I bet they have a bunch of people that just pay rather than fight it |
