Cars/trucks you have owned and love....

Natural follow up to my last thread....(I'm bored....so shoot me!) Once again if ya aint owned it post elsewhere!

1972 Ford Mustang. First car, ugliest of the model.....Solid car under 89 mph and comfortable for most. 302 is one of the most reliable V-8s out there....Sold it when I joined the Navy and should have kept it....

1972 Charger. looks I loved....interior that withstood the test of time (90%intact when I aquired her in 1991) 383 V8 auto....Sold her in a moment of fiscal horror to pay off some bills...Shoulda kept her!

1989 Ford Festiva...I know your scratching your head saying what the Fark but I bought this car used in 1991 for 3500 bucks, put 171k mile on her and NEVER spent a dime on anything other then oil tires and self installed timing belts. I put 1200 pounds of fertilizer in the back of her and drove 21 miles to the house on the rear suspension stops and she never complained. Sold her for 1800 bucks to buy a 1992 Kawasaki Concours which is my next vehicle...... Excellence comes in the most unexpected places!!!

1992 Kawasaki Concours: In 1986 Kawasaki introduced this bike and I saw one in a dealership in Norfolk Virginia and thought to myself "Self, one of these days the bike, the money and me are gonna catch up and its GONNA happen!

In 1994 I walked into work and a fella I was good friends with at work was posting a for sale ad on the board in the break room. Right bike, Right price...I took the paper outta his hands as he was thumb tacking it up and said "Sold...Let me call Telco credit union."

2 hours later I had a loan, insurance and the bike.

When I brought it home the wife threw a hissie fit! Declared I was a fucking lunatic and the next 2 weeks were the quietest of our marriage.

It took me 6 months to get her on the back of it...I have never gotten her off of a bike since!Money and abuse well spent!

14 years and 141k miles later the Connie threw a timing chain grenading the motor. I have replaced her with a new 08 Honda ST1300 but her remains are in my garage and I have found a newer motor...I plan on rebuilding her. She is a keeper!

2000 Chevy Silverado. She just turned 202k on 5 sets of tires, almost 20 gallons of oil, 1 cigarette lighter and I just bought her a set of shocks.

Purchased new in 1999 I paid 19000 for her, paid her off in 2004 and have been driving payment free in comfort since. 4.8 liter v8 auto LS trim and invisible Silver in color, she is the best vehicle I have ever owned bar none. Although the gas gauge flutters under 1/4 tank and the passenger electric window quit ALL THE WAY UP she has been a trouble free truck since bought and will be repaired rebuilt or buried which ever becomes apparent. I love this truck!

Yours??

1995 Ford Taraus LX - Was my first car, got her in 2002, she lasted me well into 2006, she was a nice car but had some mechanical issues. If I would have known the issues I would have had with the Lumina I would have fixed her. Sold her for scrap.

1995 Chevy Lumina - Took over the car from my brother who had is licence suspended, drove it from 2006-2008. It had a bad water pump that a friend of the family fixed that resulted in the head gasket going bad. The muffler also fell off so it was LOUD. VROOM! It is rotting in my garage to this day as its my brothers car and I'm too nice.

1995 Buick Century - Was a stop gap when I was just going to drive junkers. Pay cash no car loans, whats not to love! Bought it for 800$ from CL in the winter of 2008, it drove but suffered from a car that was old and in the rust belt. Drove it into the ground and sold it for 600$ after 8 months or so.

2005 Grand Prix - Bought used in 2009, still own it. I think my next car is going to be a Ford... It was my newest car purchase, as far as years old when i bought it, and the first time I got a car that wasn't made in 1995.

2002 Dodge Ram 1500 - Bought to haul leaves, a co-worker was going to trade it in. They (the dealership) offered a horrible price, I beat the offer and got the truck for a steal. It sits in my driveway for most of the year, insurance on it is a wash (verses the price of yard waste pickup) and I get the benefit of owning a truck.

1991 Mustang LX 5.0 coupe - It was a blast in straight lines, however it could not handle any curves. Lightweight to start, even lighter once the rear seat, carpet, spare tire, jack, radio, AC system came out. Did a few bolt on parts, 2.5" exhaust, BBK headers, no cats, GT40 upper and lower intake, cold air intake kit, new injectors and high flow fuel pump. Ended up wrapped around a tree when my brother tried to show off for some girls.

1992 Lincoln Mark VII LSC - gift from my mom. Bought it from her neighbor. Car was (and still is) immaculate. Rio Canyon Red, leather Lear seats, only option the car did not have was the power moon roof, that was added by the dealer. It was one of the last cars to be built for that generation, leading to a combination of hydra-boost brakes, the E-AOD transmission, with the next generation suspension controller so it would automatically lower at speeds over 55MPH. Rear brake lines failed, master cylinder was scratched when the plunger moved and it was almost dry, and cannot replace it. I still own it, looking for the parts to fix it.

2008 Toyota Tundra - Had the 5.7L V8, six speed auto. Got it when my mom passed away in 2009. Drove it across the country a few times. Great truck, however it was just too big for daily driving. Sold it to a friend who does search and rescue that lost their truck in the May 22, 2011 tornadoes that hit Joplin, Mo.

2007 Mustang GT - First mod was a set of Flowmaster mufflers, then a cold air intake, next was a tuner. Then I removed the factory suspension completely and replaced it with Eibach springs, sway bars, panhard bar and rear control arms. While the car was in the air I added ceramic brake pads both front and rear. I have a tubular Steeda radiator support sitting in my garage waiting for me to find the time to install it, along with new Accel coils. I'm also still trying to decide if I want to go with the Kooks or BBK headers and x-pipe kit. Once I get that decided I will probably do a new intake and throttle body and MAF sensor as well. Then the only thing I could do without tearing down the motor will be the FRPP "Hot Rod" cams..

I owned an loved a 1988 Nissan Pulsar NX SE. It was the first good car I owned (as opposed to the junkers I owned through high school). It was the first bank loan I ever took out to build my credit. My mom cosigned for it. I was 18. I regret ever getting rid of it. It was a relatively quick car, good looking with the aftermarket wheels I put on it, and a blast to drive. It handled very well. And the T-Top was fun when I was stationed in Florida in the military. I remember being tuned down by an insurance company because I had a questionable driving record at the time, and they didn't think I should be driving a "hot rod car".

The coolest car I ever owned was a 1967 Datsun SPL-311 Roadster just like this. Black fiberglass hard top, rag top, spoke wheels. Pretty damn fast, too.
I miss it.

I owned about a half-dozen English junkers like Hillman and Vauxhaul as a young teenager and then a '54 Chevy. I took apart the Blue Flame OHV 6 and put it back reconditioned. I drove a Suzuki 305 motorcycle most of my university years, and then I bought a '78 Honda Civic, my first new car. After that it was a '82 VW Sirocco, '84 Audi Coupe, '86 Mustang LX 5.0, '89 Mustang GT, '93 VW Corrado, '94 Mustang GT, '97 Mustang GT, '01 Mustang GT, and currently a '10 GT. The Audi was a lemon, blew three heads in 18 months. I wrecked the '93 Corrado when a driver made an illegal pass and forced me off the highway. Cracked a couple ribs when the driver seat collapsed because it was not installed properly. It was missing a critical anchor bolt. I never pursued legal action against VW because my insurance company was quick to pony up and they made a $1500 error in my favor.

Had a 01 Malibu that suffered from the infamous LIM problem. Ate the cost and fixed it ($1000), only to have the power steering to fail a couple weeks later. Was a good car, decent acceleration and good handling but man, I was sick of the problems. Sold it and got a 2000 Ford Taurus...haven't missed the Malibu in the slightest. Fully loaded for the year as well as the 24v DOHC engine, and haven't had anything too bad happen to it, other than the AC crapping out on me last summer. It's pretty fast for how heavy it is.

My next car will be a Ford.

Ok! so as I said I donated my old Black Limo back in December 2010 when it died, and I go to buy the new one (actually it's old like mine 1988) with new paint job, cd, dvd player with monitors, new wheels (really nice ones), I like what I am seeing and I notice the roof pulling away from the molding as I got closer my wife say to this is your old limo, I said it can't be this is cherry, I look at the drivers windows and sure enough a decal (Grumpy) I put on it was on the window, I say to myself it can't be so I look at the passenger window and sure as hell there is the second decal (Dopey) I put on my old limo!
Just freaked me out, I told the dude thanks but I used to own this and I can't/won't buy it back!
So now I'm back to square one!

You guys are all EASY. You fall in love with anything. Had a '56 Austin Healey 3000/6 in 1969. It was THE foreign sports classic for the time. Hate to say it but an '06 Honda Ridgeline was the best handling full sized vehicle that I've ever owned. It sucked as a truck but was very impressive on ice and snow. (underpowered, full time 4 wheel drive, 4 wheel traction control, X-frame uni-body construction, 4 wheel independent suspension, 4 wheel disc brakes)

My favorite vehicle would be a 1997 ford ranger. 4.0 engine, 5 speed. Sold it at 500,000 miles with original drivetrain. pretty well everything else was replaced but at a half a million u would expect that. Love the truck to this day and miss it

1988 Chevy Beretta: Thing was a total dog, 0-60 Eventually if the AC was on, the previous owner's aftermarket sunroof leaked in streams in heavy rain. 3spd automatic and no OD. but it was reliable and built like a tank... also had an oddly unique style as I have never seen a car like it again. it was a good first car that got handed down to me (Parents bought it for my sister, it had two previous owners before us, she went to college, I got it for a few years, got a S10, drove it to Ohio to give back to her and then she got another several years out of it). It had many flaws but took a hell of a beating as a first car for both my sister and myself. and I think it was a first car for the previous owners as well.

1995: S10 Pickup, Honestly I just loved this truck. 5spd manual, 4wd, 4.3L Vortec. it was honestly a surprisingly fast truck. did lots of work and moved so much stuff with it. amazing how many home improvement odds and ends show up in life when a pickup is now in the driveway.

2005 Hyundai elantra which is my current ride. I abuse the hell out of it, but it still runs like a champ after three accidents.

First one was a truck making a sharp turn and his wheel ended up on the top of my hood.

The other two backed up into me in parking lots normally hitting me in the rear as I was passing by.

Even after all that she still runs like a champ. Had to replace the radiator after a stress fracture occurred during a trip from Texas to North Carolina after the trip was complete.

Bought her used too with 33K miles.

1983 Olds Cutlass Supreme. This was a hand-me-down from a relative in Florida that I was a gift for me to have the luxury to drive to High School for my senior year. A lot of good stuff happened in this car, and honestly, I beat the hell out of it and it never failed me. Sure, it would occasionally stall on the highway on me at 60mph, but I loved her. I never got her above 90mph, as I think it was impossible. I'd need 11 miles of road to get her to that speed. As it was RWD, I learned how to drive properly in the snow with this beauty. Loved making u-turns with the gas pedal.

1986 Monte Carlo SS. Loved this car, drove it to college in 93. Sold in 96 to pay for some classes. It hurt giving this one up.
