Re: Cars/trucks you have owned and love.... I loved all of my cars, though not that many as my brothers.
First car
1974 Plymouth Duster with a slant six. No power anything with a AM radio. It was a hand me down from my mom. When lots of kids were rocking I-Rocs and Mustangs in the late 80's I had this and was happy. Friends said it had a potato skin roof (actually simulated snake skin I believe) Died on me one day while I was beating it, blew a rod.
Second car
1979 Olds Cutlass Supreme V-6 power everything. Another hand me down from mom. This car was mint condition when I got it from her. I put white raised letter tires on it to make it look cool, actually wanted it to look like a 442. Died going thru the Lehigh Valley Tunnel, my buddy pushed it out from behind with his pick up. Blew a head gasket. Got it towed and and the shop was holding the car ransom until I could find a cheap way to get it back home.
1974 Pontiac Firebird. By far the coolest looking car I ever bought. Although I later found out it was only a Firebird Espirt. It was done up to look like a formula. Ram Air hood black and gold too. Interior was out of a Camaro which I later replaced with a TA interior from a wreck I bought. Car had a 400 v-8 but with only a 2 bbl carb. it was dog slow. Had the original T-tops called Hurst Hatch which leaked like a sieve. My brother and were going to restore it but after finding out it wasn't an original Formula and seeing how badly it was rusted out I just sold it for what I paid for it,$1500.
Next up. 1987 K-5 Chevy Blazer which I still have. Bought it off my fire chief years ago, he was the original owner and the truck had low miles on it as he only used it for vacation and camping. Always loved Broncos and Blazers and now had a clean Blazer. I lifted it 4 inches and put 35 inch tires on it. Also repainted it from the original gray and black to burgundy and black. Truck is in need of repair and funds are low so its been sitting awhile now. But I can't part with my baby.
Current car.
1999 Infiniti I-30T Needed a newer car that was better on gas than my truck and wanted something that rode better than it too. Bought this from my brothers dealership which he works for the parent company so I got a great deal on it. First car purchased at a dealer for me. I got the car in 2002 and it had only 23k on it. Was a company car so it was well maintained. First car I owned with a good working AC. I first thought it was too nice of a car for me and I wasn't sure about car payments but its serves me well till this day and still looks good. I'll drive it till it dies. Only 72k on it now.
If my money situation improves I will get the Blazer all fixed up, my new wifey will have the I-130. My look at the new 4 door JK Jeeps, or look for a old muscle car maybe. -- "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace." -Jimi Hendrix | | | reply to DeltaElite (1) 1991 Chevy Camaro RS - It as my older brother's car and he stopped making payments so I took it over. This was in 1997. Great car, 305 V8 which was plenty of power for a newly licensed driver. I neglected it and it started to become too expensive to maintain. Traded it.
(2) 1997 Chevy S-10 - Cheap truck that got me around. I fixed it up a little but even with rims and stereo it was just boring to drive. It had the 4cyl engine with 5spd trans so as basic as it came. Need more room. Traded it.
(3) 2000 Chevy Blazer LS - Nice and roomy. 4.3L V6 that had some power to it. I spent quite a bit on this truck. I was still dying to get another sports car though so...Traded it!
(4) 2004 Chevy Monte Carlo SS - Supercharged dream. It was the Dale Earnhardt edition, not something I was looking for, I dont care about Nascar, but it was a beautiful car. I hated getting rid of it but I was getting married and it just wasn't practical anymore. Traded it.
(5) 2006 Dodge Durango SLT - A surprisingly fun SUV. 4.7L V8 that sounded great once I upgraded the intake and exhaust. Had seating for 8, DVD player, and was a great daily driver. Horrible gas mileage though. Trans started to go and money was tight so to get out of it I traded it. Surprise I know!
(6) 2005 Nissan Altima - I traded the Durango for a 2010 Dodge Caravan. This was for my wife. I got her 2005 Nissan that she had before we got married. I was told I could do what I wanted with it, no questions asked. I drove it for 3 months and then guess what...TRADED IT!
(7) 1999 Pontiac Trans Am - This was something I had wanted for a LONG time. Picked it up in South Florida, drove it 500 miles back, loved it. I did not even have to do much to it. Already had upgraded intake manifold, intake, headers, no resonators, no cats, straight pipes into bullet style mufflers. Cammed with LS2 heads and the engine had only 30,000 miles on it. Few interior flaws that were common in the Firebirds/Camaros but almost flawless. Well due to a family tragedy, had to get rid of it. Sold it =(

(8) - 2004 Dodge Stratus - Picked it up super cheap, low mileage and clean. For my daily driving needs it is fine. Most boring thing I have ever driven though. This is my current vehicle. Just clicked 70,000 miles. Will be selling it or trading it hopefully next summer. I am looking at getting a 2008 Dodge Magnum SRT8. I would like the 2011 CTS-V Wagon but too rich for my blood. I am hooked on wagons though so the SRT8 will do. Test drove one and it was FUN. Having that power with that kind of room is nice.
That's it for me. | | | (1) 2007 Ford Focus - Funny car! My first car and i think everyone has good memories about his first car.:D
(2) 2009 BMW 1 - So this is the CAR! It's like a gokart and it turns like a gokart. Good acceleration and that german precision. I love this car! | | |
| 1 edit | I'm a young guy so till now I had just one car. That is a german BMW 118i from 2006. It's a pretty fast car with high stability in curves. Hope I can drive it another 2-3 years. | | takeahikePremium join:2005-01-07 Woodland Hills, CA 1 edit | reply to DeltaElite '61 Rambler '65 Plymouth Belvedere II '66 Chevy II '74 Honda 200 (motorcycle) '75 Honda CB500T (motorcycle) '75 Plymouth Duster '81 Chevrolet Malibu '86 Mazda B2000 pickup '87 Mazda 626 '90 Honda Accord LX '93 Honda Accord EX '95 Ford Ranger '98 Honda Accord DX '02 Toyota Highlander* '06 Infiniti G35* '09 Honda Accord LX*

First Car 1991 Alfa Romeo 164L (sold it to my cousin in 2003, he died, and I have been trying to track it down since to purchase back!) Second Car 2002 Nissan Xterra SE (Still have it, 125,000 miles, 90% of that towing a 5,000lbs trailer) Third Car 1991 Honda Accord SE (Bought from grandparents in 2006 with 14,000 miles on odo, sold it in 2010 with 150,000 miles on odo because transmission was going due to car-jackers joyriding with it after they stole it, drove it for another 10,000 miles after it was recovered, miss this tank of a car). Fourth 2009 Nissan CUBE (Still have, 32,000 miles) Fifth 1967 Alfa Romeo Spider (rescued from being scrapped, converted this baby to run on Electric, sold it for 9x what I paid for it, and it was in UN-finished condition) Sixth car 1938 Cadillac LeSelle Series 60 (Still have it. Have actually had it since I was 7. Runs great, still needs a LOT of body work and upholstery.) -- »KmanScooters.com Home of Wisconsin's Most Affordable Cars, Motorcycles and Scooters "Yes, I'm a Freemason No, I don't know where the Grail is No, I don't know where the Ark is And don't even ask me about "The Da Vinci Code." | | ilikemeI live in a van down by the river.Premium join:2002-08-27 Denton, TX kudos:1 Reviews:

Re: Cars/trucks you have owned and love.... 2005 Corolla S - First car, bought used with 18k miles on it in December 2005. Liked it a lot, but totaled in an accident with an unlicensed (and possibly illegal immigrant), uninsured, red-light runner.
2009 Corolla LE - Bought quickly to replace the the 05 Corolla, hated it after a while. Felt like I was driving a riding lawnmower with a/c and a radio. Traded with Dad when the recall happened and got the Avalon. He just traded in the Corolla a few days ago.
2000 Avalon XL - Loved it for its comfort, ride and power while still having decent mpg. Gave it back to Dad when I got the CRV.
2012 Honda CR-V EX - Just got it yesterday and love it. Traded in the the Corolla for it. Has plenty of space for the gear I have to carry around, comfortable ride, and great mpg for a vehicle of that size. --

| | OmenQSpazzPremium join:2003-03-21 Continuum | reply to DeltaElite The first car I drove was not the first one I bought. In 1996, I bought an '87 Ford Ranger. My Mom drove it for a while, and I drove her Mom's '88 Pontiac 6000 STE. In hindsight, the pickup was probably safer than the 6000. Damn thing broke down every other month, and cost hundreds every single time. So we gave it back to my Grandma, and Mom bought a truck of her own. A couple years later, the Ranger needed some suspension work, and I didn't have the money to fix it, so I sold it for about what I paid for it. It's the only vehicle I miss after it was gone.
1996 Mazda 626 was next. Should have taken it back when the brake caliper failed, but I was in Washington and the place I bought it from was in Utah. Paid too much for it in 2000, couldn't afford it, and it was repo'd in 2003.
Since my credit was in the toilet, but I still needed to get to work, I bought an '88 Honda Civic from one of those car lots, you know the kind. Probably paid too much, but it was $3,400 and he took 17 bi-weekly payments. It ran well for a few years until one cylinder started burning oil, then it filled up with oil and I was driving on 3 cylinders. Sold it to CarMax for $100.
Acquired 1/2 interest in my wife's 2002 Mustang when we got married. Great car, low miles, runs like a champ. Traded it in on 1/5/12.
In-laws gifted us a 1995 Dodge Intrepid. Ran great for 129,000 miles. Started to burn oil and was donated to Kars 4 Kids.
In-laws gifted us a 2000 Dodge Intrepid R/T, which is why we donated the '95. Car runs great at 105,000 miles, time to get the timing belt changed. Wife drives it daily to work.
I mentioned trading the Mustang a while back. Traded it in for a 2012 Mustang V6 Premium. Love this car. Getting a dent fixed tomorrow, someone dinged me last Thursday in a parking lot. Pictures of the car (pre-ding) are in this forum. -- Cogito Ergo Nom | | Reviews:

| reply to DeltaElite 2011 Mazda 3 Hatback 2.5L - Got it back at the end of Jun when my Saturn was starting to give up the ghost. Fantastic car, great power that demands it be driven fast. Luckily in Atlanta everyone drives fast. Got my first color choice too, Celestial Blue... waxed it this morning for the 2nd time. Fantastic car to take to the track... plenty of room for tent and flagging gear. | | stev32kPremium join:2000-04-27 Mobile, AL kudos:1 Reviews:

2 edits | reply to DeltaElite 1948 Plymouth - It had a three speed manual or so-called automatic transmission mode. You could start off in 2nd gear let off the accelerator and the car would go "ka-chuck" and shift to second, then speed up a little more let off the accelerator again and the car would go "ka-chuck" and shift to third.
1955 Chevy Bel-Air - Really nice fancy car for the time, but I had to carry a spare water pump and two gallons of water at all times because the water pump would last less than 3,000 miles. Finally burnt the engine up.
1958 Chevy Bel-Air Factory Hot Rod. The car had a 409 Cu in engine, 2- 4 barrel carburetors, 4-speed manual transmission, and a clutch that almost took both feet to press in. It got 8 miles/gal uphill or down, but was so fast it scared you to death. Problem was I had to work on the car every day to keep it running and the gas was eating me alive at 25 cents/gal. I sold the car for enough money to pay my first year tuition and books at college and had enough left over to buy my next car.
1958 Volkswagen Beetle. I think I paid $75 for the car. It had a 25 H.P. engine and the only gauge was the speedometer. It had no fuel gauge. Instead it had a 2 gallon reserve tank and a switching valve. When you ran out of gas you switched to the reserve and had about 40 miles before you ran out completely. I took the engine apart replaced the crank shaft bearings, replaced the rings, replaced the valves and lifters, replaced the timing belt, and put new tires on. I drove it for 6 years while going to college and never had a single problem.
Since then I've can't remember all the cars I've had but some of the notable ones were:
1978 Datsun 280 Z. A really fun car to drive, but it only had two seats and with kids in it had to go.
1986 Buick Century Limited - The worst car I've ever owned bar none. It was the absolute definition of a lemon. I don't even remember all the problems, but it spent more time in the dealers shop than on the road. I sold (gave away) the car with less than 20,000 miles and have never owned another GM product and never will again.
1992 Lexus LS400 - Wonderfull car that I drove until 2007. Would have kept it longer mechanically it was still great, but the electronics were shot. The fuel gauge quit, the tach quit, the instrument panel lights were out, the drivers seat motors were out, the stearing wheel tilt motor quit, and the dealer wanted over $8,000 to fix everything. So bye-bye Lexus.
2010 Toyota Tundra 5.7L - My current ride and I love this truck. I really like everything about it except the gas mileage - 13 - 14 around town and 18 on the highway.

I really loved my '97 F-150 XLT 4x4 also. I should have never got rid of that truck.
My wife misses her '06 Grand Prix GXP and I do a little also. -- In need of a Vegas vacation.
