 | reply to Oleg yeah, no. they devalued it to a point where its not really worth, sure if your ordering pizza any way its a nice perk. but still devalued compared to when they first started it. |

| reply to Oleg Don't let the commercials lead you on about their sauce being fresh. It's CANNED and has a expire date of atleast 2 years! I worked there. I have also worked for Dominos and their sauce comes in a bag & box that is good for approx 6 months. Much fresher. |

| The reason canned stuff lasts longer is that you can remove air from it which slows degredation and no light reaches it, when it is in a bag you run into the problem of plastic degrading / light ruining the flavor of the sauce. Both places probably use very similar sauces but the packaging is what changes its shelf life. |

I always love how these corp greed places hawk about "fresh made", they wouldn't know fresh if it slapped them in their face.
fresh to them is: • Thaw premade doughballs • Open a can[or bag] of premade pizza sauce • Open bag of pre-shredded cheese • Open bags of various toppings

| reply to Oleg Here in Connecticut, pizza is more or less sacred. Big corporate franchise chains are not popular and less plentiful. In fact, many communities prevent franchise outfits from setting up shop.
Some of the best pizza in the world is made here, such as Frank Pepe's. In the small city I live in there are about 9 places making pizza, each is different and unique, and only 1 is a major franchise outfit. Not coincidentally, the franchise outfit here doesn't do a lot of business.
A community that doesn't tolerate corporate masturbation is a happier community. Support small business, we do it here and life is good! Here in the NE US the political mentality isn't tolerant of corporate invasion. Indeed, there ARE big box stores and such, but, as an example: Target is more popular than Walmart thanks to public perception here.
My hometown even has a family owned toy store, and the population is less than 10,000. It is no accident that the toys are mostly hand made, made in the USA, high quality, educational, and more loved by children. Even hardware stores here are either private owned or smaller franchise and have everything under the sun.
Some people that are right leaning complain about the cost of taxes and goods here in CT, but the standard of living is WAY better here than in, say, TN, where I lived before. In TN, where I lived, "everyone" lived in old, dilapidated trailers or tiny old homes and worked for minimum wage or not much more, and the only restaurants are large franchises with horrible food, the ONLY good sandwiches were at Jersey Mike's, a transplant franchise based on NE US food. And even that wasn't all that great compared to what we have here in CT.
Embarrassingly though, one of the US's largest food franchises, Subway, is from CT. At least it is based on more wholesome food than, say, a traditional McDonald's meal.
If you want one of the best pizzas in the world, come to CT. If you want to live in a real house, eat real food, and escape American corporatism, CT is a much better place. | reply to Oleg I used to order from Papa John's all the time. They had the best alfredo sauce. One day I called to place an order and was told "sorry, we only use the alfredo sauce for the spinach alfredo. we can't use it for any other pizza." So they've never darkened my doorstep since.
I'll willingly drive to the closest Papa Murphys since they do have the sauce and it costs just the same, but without the added delivery fee. -- Luffy, Zoro and Usopp: Chopper's a doctor?!?! No wonder you couldn't afford better.
Oh, so now you delete your post. |

I've been ALL OVER TN. There are a LOT of houses, but a LOT of trailers, too, but this distracts from my point. |

Seems like they did not want to take a liability risk. |

| reply to Bamafan2277 I couldn't care less about the freshness of the ingredients. Papa Johns is simply the best pizza there is (excluding non-chain specialty shops that is). Pizza Hut and Dominoes are good but suck compared to Papa Johns. Pizza Shoppe and Wheat State Pizza are a couple awesome local chains. |

Most pretty good a few that are great. So I don't get Papa that much unless they have a good promotion going. -- "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace." -Jimi Hendrix |

For me, Pizza hut is sadly the best (I actually liked the Pizza Mias they had for a while, but they them about 2 months later and they weren't as good). So for me it's DiGiorno most of the time. The Bacon Blitz (bacon, salami and onion) pizza when I can find it is great, but otherwise it's quick and easy.
I did however just finish polishing off a home made pie except for the mozzarella... Was some good eats. |
