[Help] Program to format an external drive
What is a good program to format an external drive at DOS one that will create a boot disk? I need a program that does different kinds of formats?
WinXP Pro SP3
Is this a drive with information on (data) or one that you just want to convert,eg:Fat32 to NTFS or vice versa?
If you want to completely erase the drive, then D-Ban would probably be the way to go....
Here is a good article on how to use...
I am not aware of any programs that do different kinds of formats,BUT that doesn,t mean that there isn,t any ....if there are any available I,m sure someone here will jump in and let you know...
not in ohio

Who the heck uses DOS?
What do you want a "boot disk" to do? Sounds like you want an operating system on there - what OS? Generally, you can't put a bootable Windows system on a disk except by going through the Windows installation procedure. You can likely install a bootable "recovery system" from the Windows distribution CD (I have not checked lately).
The Windows 7 'format' command will format in NTFS, FAT of various sizes, and ExFAT.
But, generally speaking, to make a bootable disk, you copy a disk image of a bootable disk onto it. Think ".iso" for CDs. This is a not a matter for format. And we're back at the question: what do you want this bootable disk to do?
