 | Xbox360 Saved Game Question I picked up two of the Xbox 360 4GB bundles from Walmart last night ($199) with the Kinect thing. I was looking at upgrading the drives to the larger 250GB but have been reading up on people using 16GB USB drives for additional storage. My question is, with the 4GB built in and 16GB added, is that enough to store saved games from 2-3 users? I am not sure how much space a saved game takes. I am planning on getting Skyrim in the near future and possibly one of the Madden games, maybe a MW game too. Do I need to go ahead and get the 250GB or will the 20GB work?

 | I should mention that I do not plan on using it for movies or anything but gaming. As far as downloading things, the only thing I have considered ever using it for was additional characters if I get the new Mortal Kombat game. |

 | reply to s10blazer 20gb would be enough for saved games. I dont remember how much space a saved game takes. But if you were going to do other things with your xbox like download videos or your own games or even buy games from the market place I would opt for the 250. But if its mainly for just saved games i feel that 20gb is more than enough. |

 | reply to s10blazer Thanks Ozark. Good to know and since I have the thumb drives already that will save me quite a bit! |

 | reply to s10blazer It's not going to be the saved games that kill you as much as the DLC. My wife and I shared a 8 gig memory stick for a while and had a bunch of game saves on it. You should be fine. |

I had an extra HDD laying around from a dead system but eBay probably has thousands of them for cheap. |

| reply to s10blazer 20GB should be enough. But the formatting of the flash drive will leave you with less that 16 GB for storage on the flash drive.
Most of the save game files I have are between 1 MB and 12 MB. Some of the game updates though are bigger, a couple of hundred MB in some cases.
I personally prefer the 250GB Hard Drive though. I install all of my games so that the Xbox does the disc check when I start up the game, and then doesn't have to spin up the disc again until I change games. Plus there's the BF3 HD textures pack thing.
But 20 GB should be enough for save games and the occasional updates. -- "Every normal man must be tempted, at times, to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin to slit throats." - H. L. Mencken

Actually 4 GB is plenty of game saves. But if you already have the thumbs drives then by all means use them. formatting the flash drive takes away about 1/2 GB of space. Also a 16 GB flash drive actually only has 15.3 GB of sapce to begin with. So at the end of the day a 16 GB flash drive will allow you to have an extra 14.8 GB of storage.
As someone says it's the DLC that will get you. As I said if you have the flash drive that's one thing. I wouldnlt go out and buy one. I'd just get the 320 GB HDD. |

 | reply to s10blazer Thanks for all the info guys. I do already have more than enough thumb drives so I will load up one of those and give it a whirl. Maybe after I recoup from Christmas spending, I might pick up a larger drive but from what you have all said I should be good for a little while.
Thanks!! |
