Cannoli join:2010-01-07 Northridge, CA | [PvE] combat rogue question Hey guys, I just started playing WoW again and had some questions about combat rogues. Do you use stealth at all to start your rotation? The rotation I've been reading states to start with SS. Nowhere have I been reading that they start the rotation with garrote anymore. So should i just forget stealthing in during boss and trash pulls? Also is rupture still used in the combat rotation? I've been reading there is a rupture rotation and non rupture, so is this purely situational on when to use it? Thanks for your help. |

 | reply to Cannoli There is no advantage to opening in stealth for combat, unless it starts you closer to the boss so you can start to DPS sooner. Assassination benefits from overkill which gives extra energy regen for the next 20 seconds, so you ALWAYS want to open in stealth.
Subtlety opens with ambush to get find weakness up, so you'll be in stealth there too. |

I'm using a mace right now for my MH until I can find a good MH dagger. Thats the only reason I'm using a combat spec right now. What is the top dps spec now for rogues or they just about all on par? |

 | reply to Cannoli Played perfectly with BiS gear on a stand and pound boss, combat is slightly ahead with the way that haste scales, but sub is right there and mut isn't very far behind either. If you're not in BiS gear, play whatever you are best at and the best weapon you have. If you have a better sword or axe, play combat. If it's daggers, go with sub or mut, depending on whichever you prefer.
Honestly, you should play what you enjoy most and what you are best at. All 3 specs are very comparable dps wise. |

| reply to Cannoli I don't raid a combat rogue. However, from discussions with our raid's combat rogues, I'd say:
1- They don't bother with stealth openers. 2- They only apply rupture if there's a bleed debuff available, or just prior to a target switch or null dps period.
Edit: Holy crud, I go to a meeting, come back to finish my reply, and I'm 4 responses behind the times.

Cannoli join:2010-01-07 Northridge, CA | reply to Cannoli Thanks all for your replies. What is a decent weapon enchant to get now on leveling gear? I don't want to pay for landslide on a weapon I'll be replacing quickly. |

 | reply to Cannoli Are you less than 85? A nice enchant that's pretty cheap for starter level 85 weapons is Hurricane. That gives a nice haste proc, where as Landslide is the top of the line enchant for the 1000 AP proc. Depends on your server economy and if you know an enchanter. The mats on Hurricane are cheap enough i'd just give one to a guildie, or you could get the mats cheap. I think Landslide is 5 crystals and 5 shards, so that's a LOT more expensive. |
