No they are not capping your internet. Capping is defined as slowing down or limiting the amount you can download. You are talking about the speed of your connection, which is defined as an UP to limit. There are many reason(s) that can effect your connection speed, and why DSL is always an UP TO 6mb down 768up |

| reply to Rawr Thats a connection issue on the line it sounds like, because if your only syncing at 2mb down instead of 6mb, I would be taking a look and checking your connections, Now back to what you was saying, No they do not cap like that, what your thinking of is throttling and they do not do that at all. the cap is a hard limit set at 150gb set for dsl and 250gb set for uverse. |

 | reply to Rawr Should I just go into ATT direct? |

When the dsl line is noisy the speed will be reduced so that the dsl can maintain a internet connection The problem may be caused by the dwellings phone wiring |

 | reply to Rawr Will it ever go back to normal? Because I don't think my wiring has changed in the past few days. |

Sometimes that clears the funk out of the modems connection the DSLAM and you'll get back to what you're supposed to get. -- I find your lack of faith disturbing. - Darth Vader. |

 | reply to Rawr Tried resetting it twice. There is a small reset button on the back of the 2WIRE Gateway 2701HG-B. |

| Ok so assuming you haven't messed with your inside wiring or removed a filter you need....you need to contact AT&T and have them run some tests on your line.
If you want you can go via the direct forums here or you can call in if you want to get the ball rolling maybe a little faster. -- My Blog. Because I desperately need the acknowledgement of others.

| reply to Rawr I would have loved to seen what it synced at, at the nid/sni test jack. I have seen failing filters do this or nid splitters gone bad. if a nid/sni splitter is going bad or going open the attenuation numbers will shoot up there pretty quick.
On mine, when my nid/sni splitter committed suicide last year the lowest attenuation I could get was 63 downstream. Now I knew that I had 6mbps and that number should be at or lower than 40db. Tested at the nid/sni without the splitter or the rest of the phones and found the same 40db there. Checked at the splitter and sure enough it was 40db before the splitter and 63 after.
replaced the splitter and that was that. -- If you have a topic in the direct forum please reply to it or a post of mine, I get a notification when you do this. Koetting Ford, Granite City, illinois... YOU'RE FIRED!!

MadtownPremium join:2008-04-26 Madera, CA | reply to Rawr Is there any chance that there is a VRAD next to your cross box? and if so, how long has it been there? I have a hunch that U-verse is being deployed in your neighborhood, but that just a hunch. |
|
 | I'll replace the filter to see if anything changes, and no VRAD near my box. |
|
 | Figured it out. I was putting the phone filter on the phone line that goes to the modem. Wierd thing is it's only acting up recently but its been on the line for 3 years. |
