upgrading to cat5e

I am finishing basement, and while walls are open, will wire house with CAT5e for phone and ethernet. I have everything I need for inside (CAT5 cable, Leviton Media Centre, patch panels, router, etc), my problem is how to connect (what to connect to) from the outside. Currently, I have an original 1950's phone line coming into the house for phone, which is wired to a 3-terminal metal block running a 3-wire pots line to a phone distribution terminal. I also have a cable line coming into the house, currently disconnected. I have a dry loop which allows internet access from the phone/internet provider. QUESTION: Do I a) connect CAT5e to the 3 terminal pots block, rewiring phone and ethernet through the media centre with current phone/ DSL provider, OR ) leave phone line alone....reactivate cable service and connect cable to Cat5e at the media centre?
