Pretty weak for gaming.

Out dated processor, video card is for desktop purposes, not gaming.

That being said, buying a $150 video card such as the 6870 and throwing that in there should let you play most games on high nowadays.

The Core2 X6800 was released in late 2006.

In the end it depends what you want it to do for the money you have on hand.

If you can use it to do what you want, then it's a 10/10 in your book.

However, the CPU is several generations old (C2D/Q, i-series first gen, Sandy Bridge), so when you ask us to rate your machine, expect to get slammed.

Did you buy it new? How much did you pay for it?

everyone that has a computer on dslreports has a shitty computer, because most likely it isn't a super computer.

case closed.

that said i have q6600 with a 560ti and i can run every game i've played on high or ultra with proper fps. so your computer is fine, might wanna get a better video card though.

@optonline.net

You do know this is PC gaming tech, I got news for you, go download world of tanks and let me know when you can no longer up the settings because your CPU can't take it.

Spoiler, my 4.0 875k has trouble, not max settings doing 60fps (vsync), something tells me your q6600 will just laugh at my settings.

GPU spikes to 99% but on average is in the 50% usage range so yes a CPU limit.

this is GAMING tech not the hardware forum. Everyone here has made good posts based off being a GAMING pc, I'd love to get a e6550 that is for sale but not close on CL for a friend of mine, a e6550 (LOWER than op's) would be a GREAT pc for him... *not* to play games on.

I tossed my 6850 (overclocked to 3.5) over a year go would not cut it for games for me. Again, you do not need a super computer, but to say "gaming pc" "new" and "4 year old cpu"... well um... does not really work.

A new low end gaming pc should have a i3, not a 6800. No matter what, (again less cost as that is not listed) it is not a good deal for a gaming pc.

@cox.net

i paid 700 for it and was told it was quite the deal for the deal for the cost. what vid card would you guys recommend if thats what you recommend? i have I believe a 500+ powersupply and the above specs.

You paid 700 dollars for that things, you got ripped off big time.
I can go and build a i3 dual core with hyper threading, 8gb of ram, and a GTX 560 for that much.

It would WIPE the floor with your rig. I mean it would absolutely devastate your rig in performance, in not only gaming, but all around.

Get joo money back *NOA*

That was a HUGE scam, lol.

Run up your parts cost.

New
$50 vid card, (lol)
like what, 40$ in ram
tops what a 150$ mobo (would bet less)
100$ psu tops (I would bet less)
Case? again tops what... 85$?
and a cpu, that when it CAME OUT was $$$ but right now is beat by the lowest end new CPU out (so under 150$?)

No matter what, cpu sucks, ram you get the same amount on a new PC, hell more, for less... 8 gigs should be 40 or under (and "faster")... gpu sucks, mobo has NO upgrade path, psu well is unnamed... but I really do not think it has a corsair, and case is unnamed.

You should have paid, being real here, no more than 300. I do not care that the cpu is an EE, if a $100 cpu beats it... Um, it aint worth no $400 to me.

LOLDELL

@speednetllc.com

LOL This dell is cheaper and has better hardware then your rig you got.
Not only does the CPU have 2 more cores then yours, it is also faster clock speed, and has more overall performance per mhz.
Put 100 dollars into a video card and that dell would walk all over your rig.

You either meant to reply to the OP and not me or are a fail troll who knows nothing of computers.

Go get your money back!

Whoever sold you that rig was about as honest as a used car salesman.

RichardCubbs

@cox.net

I appreciate the replies and advice and it was a gift so taking it back is not an option. However I can get a new vid card easily if someone could asap recommend me a good one. if there is a tool to provide full system specs or if you have enough please recommend me a good vid card to look into and I can get started on upgrading. Thanks so much!!!
