You could have gotten a nice UPS for the price of that thing, which would have offered a similar level of protection in addition to maintaining power during short brownouts and blackouts.
I love how the manufacturer claims improved picture and sound quality. Any decent A/V gear should have sufficient filtering built-in to their power supplies such that minor power quality issues should not affect their performance. |

| I plugged my HT receiver into a APC 1500 UPS a few years ago, and it blew out in about 10 seconds. lol. I can't remember what I read about it afterward, but I think it was because of the capacitors in the receiver.

I've got all my gear connected to UPS's never had any issue with them. I even got one only for my satellite receiver so that if the power goes out it can still record my shows, at least for a little while.
