I thought you got paid every week, but I get paid every other week. After taxes and divided over two week it sucks. -- In need of a Vegas vacation.

I can't imagine the state of IL (being broke as they are) spending extra money to process payments on a weekly basis.

Hopefully I'll have a job in the next few days. I've done 4 interviews with a company in Lincolnshire. They told me last week I should know this week. -- In need of a Vegas vacation.

| reply to VegasMan As others have said, it's every other week - but the important thing to note is that you should set up direct deposit immediately, or else you'll end up getting your money on a fee-laden debit card. They don't issue checks anymore.
I caught this when I was briefly receiving benefits due to furlough a couple years ago. However, my father did not catch it when he was laid off, and it was a bit of a surprise. -- If everything seems to be going well, you've obviously overlooked something. |

And yes I have DD payments.
EDIT: Just got my second check and got a full 660. I was wrong in thinking I was only getting 330 for both weeks. -- In need of a Vegas vacation.

There are always instances that books cannot teach, and can only be experienced in the 'real world'. 1 symptom could be a number of problems, and this is where google, bing, yahoo etc are really nice.
Don't cut yourself short, I am self taught as well and in an admin position. |

 | reply to VegasMan Hello Vegasman,
Do you have a profile on LinkedIn? Building up your network could open up some doors for you.
I'm not sure what your work background is, but you mentioned that you have some Windows support experience.
There are several groups on LinkedIn that post jobs. You should join the System Administrator (Windows, Linux, Unix) group and checkout their listings.
Also checkout Craigslist for new career opportunities.
Good luck with your job search. -- "Don't hate the player, hate the game..." |

aight join:2001-12-18 Lafox, IL | reply to VegasMan The sad part about this whole deal is that, it's a lot easier to get a job when you have a job. At least that is true w/ me.
If I were you, I would take advantage of the free time, obtaining your certs. (if you have proj mgt backround, PMP rules,,, otherwise CCNA, ITILv3, A+ & MCITP are probably the best going around.
I know of several folks who has 15+ yrs experience and an MBA or a Masters and they can't get a job because they don't have the certification. -- You can say any foolish thing to a dog, and the dog will give you a look that says, 'My God, you're right! I never would've thought of that!' |
