There is the 79 collar Kindle and then the one with the keyboard, and then there is the fire. What are the differences in the first of those two besides the presence of the keyboard?

I think I read somewhere that you can do the equivalent of jail breaking the Kindle, is that true, and if so, what does it bring to the mix?

Well the cheaper ones can come with adds to buy stuff or push coupons to your screen. You'll see those as 'Kindle 3G w/Wi-Fi with special offers' or some variation that contains 'with special offers'. Those are the ones that push adds/coupons to your screen when you boot up or when you don't have a book open. They never push an add/coupon to you when you have a book open.
