Firewall/NAT impact on bandwidth? Firewall recommendation?
I have recently installed Fusion. I am in an old house, with old wiring. I am using sonic.net supplied ZTE-300 modem. I have added supplied sonic.net supplied ADSL filters to active telephone outlets. The modem is normally connected to a Sonicwall SOHO firewall which also provides NAT translation. Using the sonic.net speed test through the firewall I get download speed of approximately 3.3mbs. When I connect the computer directly to modem output, using sonic.net static ip address, I get approximately 4mps.
Is the degradation firewall, NAT or ?
I have used the Sonicwall firewall for 6 years and it is a trusted friend.
