Re: [Food] Chocolate Milk!!

Just a note... folks, "Yahoo" is an Internet Search Engine. "Yoo-hoo" is a chocolate beverage (not chocolate milk) that's been around since 1925. There's a big difference between the two.

Yahoos drink Yoo-Hoo.

I like Ovaltine. I loved Bosco.

We didn't have Cocoa Marsh out west. I only knew of its existence from seeing a sign for it when I lived in Stamford in the mid-80s and some long-timers gave me the 411.

Yes, it may have been an East coast phenomenon. Bosco had a bear, Cocoa Marsh had a lion. The billboard you saw along I-95 was at the company headquarters in Stamford. By the mid 80's they were already out of business. (1939-1980) Though I no longer have it, I once had a white and brown glass Cocoa Marsh pump dispenser, shaped like the CM Lion, that they had a a promo item sometime in the early 60's, that my Mom got in the neighborhood A&P. My Dad would get so mad when Mom would buy that stuff for me, Cocoa Marsh and Bosco. (and U-Bet, too) He was convinced it was all artificial chocolate flavored "tar" crap and only wanted her to buy Hershey's syrup in the can. The cans weren't as much fun to a little kid as a Bear or a Lion in neat pump bottles, though. And the Cocoa Marsh Lion and Bosco Bear were more entertaining in the Saturday morning cartoon commercials, of course.

I grew up on Bosco as well, I remember when it came out in the tall bottle. I loved to pour milk into an empty bottle and shake the heck out of it. It made one nice final drink before getting rid of the bottle.

U-Bet was the only syrup allowed in our house to make egg creams.

I don't think it's acceptable, or legal, to make an egg cream with anything else.

Why is Chocolate milk so hard to find here in NYC.

Like real CHOCOLATE milk not Nesquick, not Yahoo, and NOT Fat free. I want Great Chocolaty milk in a Half Gallon or Gallon form, It could be organic or regular.

Why can't you use Hershey's chocolate syrup with milk. I think that makes the best chocolate milk

TruMoo
I know of Ovaltine, but those other drinks are before my time. LOL

Today I tried Target Chocolate Milk selection and it was not bad $5.15 for a gallon.

Its ok but not really Organic and its 1% . . I also found that Whole Foods has a local dairy chocolate milk but was a little expensive for a small bottle. The same i believe is in select DuaneReade stores.

TruMoo is a franchise, of sorts. Local dairies affiliate to use the TruMoo name, which is being nationally marketed on TV right now with a commercial campaign. The local dairy here that makes TruMoo is WHOLE Milk, not 1%, though...interesting, I wonder why? By the way, that price is OUTRAGEOUS! Good LORD! A gallon is no more than $3.00 here, about the same as regular milk. But, that said, the TruMoo is very, very good chocolate milk.
