Just a wild guess. What he is probably going to announce is an increase in the sales tax through the end of the year. -- A fire burns today Of blasphemy and genocide The sirens of decay Will infiltrate the faith fanatics |

Gov. Dannel P. Malloy said Sunday that the state has launched a probe into potential fraud by state workers involving a program to pay victims of Tropical Storm Irene.
The probe centers on whether state workers falsified financial information in order to receive benefits stemming from Tropical Storm Irene that were administered by the state Department of Social Services.
Numerous citizens were seeking assistance and benefits after the devastating storm, and questions were raised immediately whether everyone receiving those benefits was actually eligible. |

1 edit | reply to JimCT Great, they might catch some 200 who have abused the program and cashed out some $150,000 total. The workers will get fired and qualify for other state aid. They will probably spend $20,000,000 in the process. |

 | I remember an issue (don't remember exactly where and what dept was involved)... A small accounting mismatch to the tune of few $ prompted an audit. They had to go over few years worth of records. The $3 issue was fixed at a cost of about $100k. |
