How can I block connect.facebook.net from my web-experience?

I was on a website recently (a store-locator page) and it didn't function until I removed connect.facebook.net from my hosts file.

I have about a dozen different FB entries in my hosts file, but it was the connect entry that prevented the store-locator page from functioning.

The page-source has »connect.facebook.net/en_US/all.js that seems to be connected to or involved with the form "StoreLocator.aspx".

I think this goes beyond wanting my browser to not render FB "like" buttons - I don't want it talking to Facebook at all.

Can it be avoided in this case?

What does all.js do that is absolutely necessary in this case?

The page in question:

Some sites are (badly) designed to not bother checking whether an external reference resolved. There is nothing you can do about it from your end, other than complaining to the site's management.

I can suggest Hostman, it will allow you to quickly enable/disable hosts for sites that are causing issues.

I assigned ctrl-alt-H to a hotkey to pop it up quickly.
