MidakDoctors suckPremium join:2002-02-26 Yonkers, NY | news12.comm is redirecting me to Long Island Ok, Im in Dutchess county and usually when I got to news12.com, i get Hudson Valley, as I should and when I click on watch live, I get News 12 Westchester, which is what I want. As of this morning, I get News 12 Long Island as the site and for the Watch Live. Any ideas what is going on? Anyone else getting this to? |

 | reply to Midak I'm guessing a node move provided new IP ranges. Go to www.optimum.net & without logging in, see where it points you to (probably, also Long Island). Log in & it should update to the correct location on optimum.net. I don't know if news12 behaves in the same way (detecting primary region based on ID when signed in), but if the geolocation is off, you could always contact CV to try to get it updated. It's not a quick process because it's not a CV database issue, but an ARIN update. |

| reply to Midak 1) you're in Dutchess but your signature says Yonkers ?? 2) News12's Hudson Valley section has always covered Westchester, not Dutchess, something I've complained about numerous times.
I live in Dutchess and have begged for Dutchess coverage but CV and New12 seem to think we don't exist, although they're more than willing to take our money, month after month.
As far as I can tell News12 is only for the rest of CV land, not for Dutchess. |

If you look at the extreme right of the blue NEWS12 header you will see a drop down window to select your area. You might have accidentally changed it to Long Island (check what it shows). Just select it and change it (back?) to Hudson Valley and it will work correctly again. |

MidakDoctors suckPremium join:2002-02-26 Yonkers, NY | reply to momcat1 You/we actually pay an extra charge for News 12 that no one in there coverage area pays. They say it is for the two hours of news they do provide on Ch 18 (i think). |

 | I believe they actually DID have a news12 for us up here.
At the Wappingers store half the building I believe WAS the news12 studio for Dutchess.
I love we pay extra for this. |

I love we pay extra for this. Not exactly.
The studio half of the Wappingers building used to be the awarding winning, innovative studio for NewsCenter 6, and the production studio for the local commercials that were shot and produced in Wappingers, which is now ancient history. It was pretty good stuff, too, with a full news department. This was before Cablevision had anything to do with Wappingers, and also before Cablevision had a News12. No, Cablevision never had a News12 for Dutchess. Not too many people here remember that far back, or were here for it. I was. I worked there.
Cablevision disbanded it for the most part, for quite a while when they took over. Then they decided to bring it back as a fragmentation of what it used to be. That's when they decided to charge us for it, and I still don't understand why. I don't believe they still produce commercials locally, either. |

 | Thanks for the correction. One of half dozen cable techs I have had here in the last year+ told me that.
I have lived in Westchester till I moved here. |
