 | Westell 7500 - Connecting a router. I am trying to hook up a Linksys router to my DSL modem. The 7500 seems to be absolute junk and i cant figure out how to make it a straight passthrough to my router. I think what i am looking for a bridge mode? I have found how to do it on a verison model but the Centurylink model that i have is a bit different. The reason why i am wanting to do this is so i can better port forward. the 7500 wont seem to let the port forwarding work at all and i have had great luck with the WRT54GS routers. Im not new to this type of thing but it almost seems they tried to make the 7500 too user friendly and i cant make it work!
i tried to follow this guide »Verizon Westell 7500 - How do I set it to bridge mode? with no luck since it is for verison and seems to be slightly different. When i tried that i had great local service but no internet. Thanks |

 | Here is the picture of the setting. Is there anything else besides this setting that i will need to change to get it to bridge to my router. And do i need to set them exactly like the picture that you posted? thanks |

 | reply to wayjac i bridged it and let it sit for 5minutes and it has no internet. so i unbridged it and went back to the way it was so i could try to find some answers. Once i bridged it the DSL light was not on. Are there any other settings besides bridging that need to be made? |

When the modem is bridged it's the internet light goes off if the dsl light is off that must be corrected first |
|
 | What would be causing the DSL light to go off? and is there any settings other than default on my router that will need to be changed. I have it configured for my personal wifi settings but beyond that it is mostly default. |

The results you want can be achieved without bridging the modem and you may find this easy to do |
|
 | Okay. Ive tried just about everything with this modem and i am convinced it is junk. I really need to forward a port on it but it just will not open a port. it says the ports i want are open but in reality they are not. The firewall is deactivated on it currently as to try and get the port forwarding working but i have had no luck there. So as a last resort i wanted to just open up the modem completely and hook to my linksys router and use it for the port forwarding, firewall ect. |

|
 | the westell is the one that the DSL line comes into yes. And the westell currently is working for my internet connection but i have not turned on bridge mode again since it doesnt seem to work. Nothing seems to work on the westell besides the default settings. |

You need to change the ip address of the linksys to 192.168.2.1 that can be done on the network setup section of the linksys on that same page the internet connection type must be dhcp |
|
 | the main IP of the westell is 10.0.0.1 and the linksys is 192.168.1.1. does it still need changed since they are different? the linksys router is setup as DHCP. I currently have the linksys plugged into the westell and the internet is coming through to the linksys, but only as if the linksys was another computer behind the westells firewall/blocked ports. |

Go to the westell pages and put the linksys in the westell dmz |
