San Jose, CA | Does Magic Jack collect phone taxes? One of the reasons I am considering VoIP is that I am sick of paying all the taxes. (30+% of my phone bill is tax and fees). Will I ended up paying the same amount for Magic Jack (Plus)? Are there E911 and USF taxes collected by MJ? |

No. They collect no monthly fees for anything.
They are now charging a 4.8% "regulatory" fee. That is just a one-time charge on devices purchased through them and on service renewals. You can avoid the charge on the device by buying one at a retail store, but you would then have to pay sales tax. |
