 | Games crashing (Steam games, if relevant...) on a new build. I recently moved all my Steam games to a new PC. I backed them up locally on my old system (XP 32 bit) and copied them to my new system (An ASUS P8P67 Deluxe w/i7-2600K running 8G RAM & an eVGA nVidia 570 based board, running Windows 7 x64), and then restored them.
The games start up and play fine for a bit, but they seem to crash out to the desktop. Dead Island crashed with a "this application has stopped responding." Portal 2 would simply exit to the desktop, no crash messages or anything.
Any thoughts on what I would look for? This machine hardly has anything installed on it yet. |

| Do you have the same behavior if you DL the game again from Steam?
What is your full build and what temps do you hit while gaming? What PSU? Sorry, but you don't list enough information. -- If we lose this freedom of ours, history will record with the greatest astonishment, those who had the most to lose, did the least to prevent its happening. |

 | reply to TVisitor Sort of figured it out.
I had backed it up through Steam, copied the backups over, and then restored the backups - that's when it was failing.
I ended up deleting & then redownloading, and they worked fine. Someone on Steam forums had suggested doing a game cache verification, but it was just easy enough to download a few of the games again overnight. |
