Do you have negative pings?
Do you get top score on an FPS server.... before ever joining?
Did you download a local copy of the internet - in a single day?
If so - you may be using TelusFW's custom Cellpipe firmware -- We are not retreating. We are merely advancing in another direction. -Douglas MacArthur |

| I think you would only experience negative ping speed if you were using Denon AKDL1 Dedicated Link Cable. Here is a link to the amazon website where you can read the most amazing reviews: »www.amazon.com/Denon-AKDL1-Dedic···&sr=1-35 |

Re: Alcatel Cellpipe 7130 TJ3-65-014E modified TELUS firmware Thanks Bimmerdriver for the link to the website. Some very funny reviews... I LMAO
I can't believe people would buy that cable thinking that it will enhance their audio experience. |

 | Some of those reviews are pretty funny alright! |

 | I have heard of this Alcatel Cellpipe modem, I have asked the Telus call center about getting this modem.
They say they can't get me one, where does one get one? I have the Actiontec and would prefer a stand alone modem and use my own router for my home network.
Are these still supplied by Telus, or is there another straight up modem that I can ask for?
I've got the Actiontec and the Optik 25 Mb setup...no TV, just DSL.
Thanks |

| Telus no longer provides standalone modems Alcatel or otherwise and I'm not sure if there are any plans to do so in the future.
There are a few other VDSL2 modems that have been reported to work such as the BiPAC 8200M but these are generally hit or miss and of course completely unsupported by Telus.
Your best bet is to scour Kijiji. I've managed to find 2 Alcatels and I paid around 15 bucks each. |

Tech gave me an actiontech at first, then noticed I have my own routers and switches and mentioned he might be able to give me the ALU....so he went to his truck to find one, came back and said he thought he had one but didn't realize there werent anymore in the truck. He gave me his number/I gave him my number and he said he'd drop one off in the next week or so.
He did mention that they're not really giving them out anymore - but he knew there was a stash of them at the CO because of that..
Lastly, I think I read from TierX or one of those unofficial telus guys that the actiontech's firmware will have bridge mode in the near future. |

1 edit | I think I have a Alcatel AND an Actiontec. My building was given Fibre and free Telus for 1 year (telus is going to lose on that deal, everyone will switch to Novus and Shaw after 1 year)
The fibre comes into an Alcatel Lucent Modem. This modem has 1 of 4 LAN ports working, and then enters an actiontec (which as we all know is cripled beyond belief.
The Alcatel appears to be operating in Bridge mode and as I said before has 3 of it's 4 ports disabled.
I wouldn't mind ditching the actiontec, if I could use all 4 ports in the alcatel. It is way too late to be playing with this, but that is what I have in my network locker.
I am hoping I could load standard firmware onto the alcatel, completely disable the actiontec, and be good to go. Any ideas?
UPDATE: I couldn't sleep with out more investigation. The Modem (Alcatel Lucent Fiber Modem) Is Model# I-240G-B
When I plug in directly to the 1 working LAN port, I connect via DHCP with IP: 50.98.16.XX
When I plug the Actiontec into the Alcatel, I connect via DHCP with IP: 75.156.56.XX
Why would they run 2 gateways for 1 access point?
I was not able to find a configuration for the Alcatel I-240G-B, in an effort to open the other ports. |
|
 | @AMRivlin: That "Alcatel" device you have is NOT a modem. It's the fiber optic terminal. Only one port will be active on that device and it cannot be bypassed. The Actiontec in this case is strictly active as a router only. If you do not have TV you can plug in any router that you want to the one port on the Alcatel. |
|
 | Thanks NSS.
Why only 1 port active? Why the differing IP/Gateways
Side Note: I found the I-240G-B manual and default root login (prob changed by telus though), but couldn't get any further as I don't know the configuration IP. In my head it would seem that if I could get all 4 ports working, I could have the TV on 1 port direct to telus and have other devices on my own router as you say coming off the alcatel. |

 | reply to nss_tech Can you put a switch between the FOT and the Actiontec? |
|
 | reply to AMRivlin @AMRivlin - Whatever you do, do NOT mess with that Alcatel. It is NOT a router / switch.
@bimmerdriver - Do not know. It is possible but I can't say for sure. |
|
 | reply to bimmerdriver Yes, you can put a switch between the ONT, FOT as you are calling it, and the Actiontec. |
