[TiVo] comcast digital without filter and without box

Hey guys,

I do not watch much tv, but I have a new Samsung tv just for movies and divx stuff. I ordered internet from Comcast, no tv, and when they installed it they installed it my tv was plugged in and started receiving stations. A guy at work told me they must have removed the filter. Well, I am pretty bad and I did start watching it. Then the other day they switched from analog to digital because some stations told me that. So hear are some questions.

1. Will Comcast know I am watching digital tv and will I get in trouble even if I did not remove the filter?
2. If not, I am getting about 100 stations up to 120-7, but can I buy a tivo or cable box and connect to it so I can start getting ESPN, fox news, etc?

Thanks

generally the filters used only cover a portion of the whole specturm, comcast uses....IE; 2-68, yet they use 68-119 for channels.....

most times filters arent used anymore...because as you said, its digital.....cable thieves dont have the latest tech....and soon enough all stations will be encrypted so you would need a box or cable card to watch anything....

but for right now, enjoy the channels....comcast cant see what your watching....as for your second option, you cant buy a cable box.....so if you went the tive router, those have cable cards, but you would then need to pay for TV service......so stick with what you got if you dont want to pay more per month....just dont be pissed when those digtal channels start to go away

and if he goes the tivo route hes going to need to pay for tivo service which is kind of a waste if Comcast decides to "fix" the issue and your left with no channels at all.
