Re: Trouble with Repeater and 2701HG-B

If you can access the network using the asus you also have access to the internet

You should try your idea of putting the 2701 in bridge mode and using the belkin wireless router

I would think the same with the network and internet access, but I have no idea what is blocking the internet access while keeping the network open. I'll try the bridge mode idea and see if it makes a difference. Hopefully, I won't muck things up more.

Had the same problem using a Hawking HWREN1 range extender. Hawking told me that it was not compatible with the 2Wire, but I found that it did work with Mac's but not with PC's. Tried an Engenius 3500 with no success. Hawking told me that the Hawking H2REN1 would work. I resisted buying one due t the price. I finally bought one and it works perfectly. Has been for 9 months with NO problems or issues. Works in a mixed Mac, PC environment including a couple of wireless network printers.

My apologies, but I couldn't find H2REN1 on the web. The name is similar to HWREN1. If the H2REN1 is actually the HWREN1, then the first part of your response suggests that it didn't work with a PC ("Had the same problem using a Hawking HWREN1 range extender. Hawking told me that it was not compatible with the 2Wire") while the last portion of your response suggests that it works ("Hawking told me that the Hawking H2REN1 would work...I finally bought one and it works perfectly"). I'm a little confused by this. Would you please clarify? Thanks.

I tried to set the router in bridge mode, but it didn't work because I'm missing a menu to enable the bridge mode. Now I am looking for a range extender that will work with this modem/router.

I got some help getting the 2Wire into bridge mode and using my old Belkin wireless router, I was able to get the repeater to work. It is a finicky set up that require several tries doing the same thing before I got it to work properly.

I sent an email to a company to ask if its products were compatible with the 2Wire. Apparently, the 2Wire doesn't do well with any repeater.

Well, I thought that this worked, but as it turns out, the configuration is not stable and the connection is not reliable. I hope that someone who has used a repeater or range extender with the 2701HG-B might be able to share with me a compatible device. Thanks.

After a couple of days, my family complained of inconsistent connection which my be a result of the Belkin rather than the 2Wire. However, given that the internet can be accessed when the 2Wire is in bridge mode and using the Belkin, I believe that the 2Wire is the problem when it comes to using a repeater.

Anyone have success using a repeater with the 2Wire 2701HG-B?
