WNDR3700 V2 (N600) massive speed drop compared to old router

Hi guys,

My broadband connection in theory is a 24MBps connection. I know the best I can achieve because of distance from the exchange is 8MBps.

I did have a Thomson combined modem router and it failed so have recently switched to the WNDR3700 (A friend had it going cheap) with a ZOOM modem. With the Thomson I was getting wired speeds of around 6 - 7 MBps - on the Netgear I'm getting speeds of 0.5 - 1.5 MBps.

Anyone know why I'd experience such a drop just by switching the router and the modem out. My friend assured me the netgear was okay and actually plugged it back into his system to prove it wasn't knackered - he had speeds of around 18 MBps.

My tweak test result is here (if it helps?):
»/tweakr/block:···a=normal

Thanks

Turns out it's got nothing to do with the router at all (Sorry netgear) - Culprit was a new cordless phone that was plugged in on the same extension.

That's blown my mind - unplugged it and instantly gained 6MBps. So the netgear and modem is now quicker then the previous router!
