| Sims 3 - lock ups / stutters Ok so the neighbor kid plays the sims 3 and asked me a question.
All of a sudden her game is locking up every couple of seconds. The background models are still in motion (sleeping, water sprinklers, wind effects on plants). I did a repair install, repatched everything, and googled it.
They are using Windows 7 and I added the .exe files to the DEP exclusion list. Still no go.

There is a giant ancient list of random fixes and voodoo that either does something or nothing.
I assume it's awful EA programming. Then again, those people are beaten daily so I don't fully blame them. Any suggestions besides telling her to go outside? -- "If something about the human body disgusts you, complain to the manufacturer" - Lenny Bruce What this country needs is a good five dollar plasma weapon. |

 | You try running it in xp mode? as admin?
You can also try running it in XP mode / VM
Try tweaking the vid settings via something like nvidias control panel , you do not list the computers specs... |

 | reply to Mike system specs at all? Could be a graphic card issue if its to low to push the game.
Could mistake very low frame rates to locking up? |

| reply to Mike some random pos dell, some nvidia card.
I found the problem, I guess. The video capture settings were way high. I minimized all of them. It doesn't have to be recording to take resources apparently. -- "If something about the human body disgusts you, complain to the manufacturer" - Lenny Bruce What this country needs is a good five dollar plasma weapon. |

I've also been experiencing this issue. My GF plays, or rather did play, religiously until this started happening all the time. I've actually take the time to call SIMs3 Support hotline and to be frank they were pretty clueless and kept suggesting a reinstall of the game. As if I hadn't tried it but hey what do us gamers know?
I'm going to go give this a try right away tonight. Thanks for the diligence in regards to defending neighborhood gaming Mike!
