OK, cars can sometimes end up in houses, but this one had to jump up something like 4 - 5 ft.

Looks like it bounced off the hill in front of the window. The article says second story, but the first floor is below street level. Also a pretty good bet that alcohol was involved.

Ya they need to make driving while on the phone 100% not legal... and if you get into a wreck WHILE on it... insta lose of license for 1 year. Mythbusters show it is as bad or worse than driving drunk.

But ya nothing shocking about the car launching that the ground is beat to HELL, looks like one hell of a ramp...

I had a drunk hit an 18" rock covered embankment at the front of my property. Her next point of impact was 8 foot up on a pine tree 35 feet away. The 17" diameter tree is alive and well. The driver is alive, but will never be all there in the head. (not that she was before the accident.

must have been some serious speed, that is better air time than the bus in Speed(the actual stunt, not what was seen in the final cut)

No drinking, no texting, no cell phone. Apparently a stuck throttle.

But, but ... it wasn't a Toyota.

I'm still bewildered over incidents like this. Turn it off, put it in neutral, come to a stop. Or, pray and hit a house.

rofl, I hear that, wtf, you have a key and N for a reason.

I been their, slow speed, but, was moving a customers car in the yard, OLD pos, did not want to start, so I was pushing the peddle to get it to start and then stay running... it stuck, so, took a sec to start to rev up but, I'm backing up then, VROOM, insta turned the key to off. Hit brakes, hit key to off at the same time...

Come on people... women just said in alot of words "I'm an idiot"

Actually if it turns out to be a vehicle malfunction not related to lack of maintenance then from the legal angle I wonder would the homeowners insurance and the driver's auto insurance try to sue to the automaker? or would they just pay out what was needed for repairs.

Doubt they would sue the manufacturer. Going to cost a good bit of money to do the research JUST to find out the cause of the stuck throttle and then possibly a lawsuit that could take a couple years. The insurance company would spend far more than they could get back...

Now if it happened often to the car - then class action for the owners.

People are not trained and people panic - heck - even those that have had training often panic and they can be YEARS younger than the driver of the SUV.

There was a case where a California Highway Patrol Officer was involved in a supposed run away acceleration, in his personal vehicle, and I believe that it ended in a fatality.

And that is what started Toyota 'unintended accel' issues and lawsuits...

Guessing happenings like this are when a place where I grew up someone had their house hit by a car that was driven by a drunk, their home was right at a curve. after the repairs where done they placed some large rocks about 4ft around along the edge of their property.
