What brand of HDMI cable do you use?

For normal length cables (ie: 3-5 foot), pretty much any cable or brand will work. They typically work, or they don't. The only thing to watch with HDMI cables is the spec...you will want v1.4.

website looks like its from the 90's but the cables are great and the owner did a hellava job standing up to Monster Cable some time back.

There's other reasons but that's the only place I get my cables from now.

The only HDMI cables I've ever bought were advertised with the name "Wieson" and I bought them only because I stumbled on them for $1 each a few months ago at 1saleaday. I don't even have a use for them right now but got them thinking I will need one in the future. They didn't arrive within 2 weeks as stated (it was more like 6 weeks) but they did come. The packaged cable has a date label reading 11/10/2009 & the wording "Amphenol" on each plug. I'm guessing that these are v1.4 but if they are not then almost certainly they are v1.3. They are 10 feet long. I have tested one of the cables & it does work.

Monoprice.com cables work fine here and cost less than $5 each, shipped. Don't worry about the 1.4 spec as (IIRC) it only added ethernet-over-HDMI vs. 1.3 and very few devices available today even have a use for ethernet-over-HDMI.

Unlike the analog signaling used in the old days of standard def TV, digital signaling isn't affected by slight degradation of the waveform as it traverses a conductor. As long as you get 1's and 0's at the other end, everything will work just as intended and you'll get an exact duplicate of the data that was fed into the cable. Buy some cheap cables, enjoy your picture and spend the money that you saved on something else.

The 240 Hz screen refresh rate of your TV has nothing to do with the data being fed into the HDMI port. It's just an extra process that the TV performs internally to create it's own "extra" frames to display between the frames being sent to the TV by the video source. No fancy HDMI cable required...

I don't know what brand mine are... They don't have names or logos on them and they came in a bare plastic bag (from monoprice.com). Oddly enough, they work JUST FINE !

Rocketfish (is that Best Buy or an office-supply store brand ?) or Philips ? You're paying for the name and mark-up of multiple middlemen.

Rosewill from Newegg are good cables.
I purchased a few HDMI cables for 3 bucks each and picked up a Kayables 15 ft cable for 9.50 last week.

They all work great.

I believe 1.4 cables are also used for 3D blue ray movies. Again, not something many have.

Rocketfish is the way-overpriced Best Buy store brand. I get mine from Monoprice. They are cheap and work great.

I bought a 6' from BigLots

I've bought many cables from Big Lots, some 10+ years ago. My opinion is, plug a cable in and leave it, it's not gonna fail...
