| Switched to Vonage.. I switched to Vonage about 5 months ago from our local CLEC (TelePacific) where I'd been paying $45/mo for the line and $5-$25/mo LD (Bigredwire), depending on how much yakking wife did with her sister.. This exorbitant amount finally began grating on me when I lost my job.. Since I was already paying for Cox HSI, I decided to give Vonage a try. The number port went flawlessly, and I have zero issues with the service. We went with the 300min/mo, and even when wifey yakks endlessly we've never gone over the 300min. My reason for posting here is this: Does anyone know if Vonage is ever planning on having a whitelist/blacklist number feature? Even though all our numbers are on the DNC list, we are still plagued with several telemarketers who just will NOT take no for an answer.. I can easily block them on my android cellphone, but cannot on the home phone. While snooping this forum, I found mention of Voipo, and was astounded at the cost of its service, plus it appears to have the call control I am looking for.. Question is: How stable/reliable are they? I'd hate to dump Vonage for them and find a few months down the line they are circling the drain, like so many other VOIP vendors over the years.. Sorry to ramble.. |

| They were reliable for me when I used them, up to a few years ago. I would not hold my breath for new features, those have been pretty static for quite some time.
I did ditch them for less expensive alternatives and now pay less than $15/month TOTAL for the same quality of service. Why did you pick Vonage? |

With the 300 min plan OP is on, they are probably paying LESS than $15 even also.
@OP: You DO have anonymous call blocking turned on, correct. That will eliminate some calls. If you actually pick up the phone and tell those telemarketers to remove you, they MUST remove you by law. Otherwise, file a complaint against them here, »complaints.donotcall.gov/complai···?panel=2
I started getting crazy amounts of telemarketers calling but used to just let the phone ring and go to voice mail. That get's just about as irritating though, so started answering the calls and INSTANTLY told them to remove me from their lists before they could even start talking. I get very few of those calls now. The one's I get now are from police and firemen drives, which you can't tell them to stop, which is a crock also and United Way. -- The Firefox alternative. »www.mozilla.org/projects/seamonkey/ |

| Correct! I picked them because I'd heard of them. There seems to be a glut of voip providers and I needed to go with one that I had some idea that it would be around tommorrow. As for the 300min plan, it's $11.99, but the fees/taxes put it just over $15/mo. Considering I *was* paying between $50-$65/mo for the wireline phone, this is a raging bargain. Yes I do have anon-call blocking on, and I've kind of developed a nice little trick to perhaps get them to take me off their call lists. If I happen to be sitting at the computer when one of these calls come in, I get a popup from the Windows7 fax manager (yes, I still have a modem on the computer, used to send/receive faxes only), and if I recognize the number, I click the popup to let the fax modem answer the call. I'm hoping that happens enough, these morons will think my line is a fax line... As for "telling those telemarketers to remove me", the few times I've actually answered one of their calls, usually by mistake or that I didnt check callerid before answering, I get silence on the line. If after 3 quick "hellos" nobody has come on the line, its back on the cradle with the phone. |

 | Yeah, I figured I was getting a deal on the World Plan even for around $35 a month for the first 6 months or so before I dropped down to the 750 minute plan.
Frontier bill JUST to have a phone basically was about $65 a month!! -- The Firefox alternative. »www.mozilla.org/projects/seamonkey/ |
