lol

7.5 GB of bandwidth usage per month?

You can download twice that much data in a month on dial-up.

WildBlue limits the average speed subscribers can use in their billing period to half of 56k.

This is a bigger joke than Comcast's 250GB capped 50 Mbps connections that you can't use at an average speed higher than 1 Mbps without exceeding the "usage limits" that month.

yow! do u realize we talk about residential service? Where ISPs take into account "traditional" low use - low bandwidth use model, overselling nodes/Co's to most subscribers at assumption of traffic lower than from business or commerce. At which point they count on most subscribers will never notice? Everything changed since netflix streaming revolution and instead of discrete UAP cap that always has been there, you now have hard cap limit.

Also they prefer you to buy VOD on their channels rather than download from Amazon VOD so more $$$ goes to their pocket. U-Verse VOD/ Xfinity VOD does not count against cap, because it does not use the internet connection - it uses their video distribution channel.

50? Hell, I struggle not to break it on their 16MBit blast tier (a struggle that usually fails).

The company is still refining policies related to data caps, but it "might start slowing down things that consume large amounts of data," he said. Subscribers who exceed the cap will be able to buy additional buckets of data......"A “soft launch” is expected in neighboring states of Nebraska and Wyoming in coming weeks, according to a Denver Post report."

In the company’s statement, ViaSat chairman and CEO Mark Dankberg says, “We have advanced satellite technology to the point that [our] satellite can now be a better alternative for broadband Internet than DSL, and 3G / 4G wireless offerings for fixed home use – an enormous leap for satellite broadband technology.”
