Drunk driver wrecks Lamborghini at 3:30 AM

In my town...
quote:
Police, fire and rescue personnel responded to the scene at mile marker 28.4 in the eastbound lanes of I-78 in Bedminster shortly after 3:30 a.m. Monday, and the first emergency crews on the scene found the Lamborghini already engulfed in flames, [New Jersey State Police Trooper Christopher] Kay said. The highway remained partially closed for about an hour while the fire was extinguished and an investigation ensued.

The driver, 35-year-old William Sherman of Short Hills, ultimately was arrested and charged with DWI after it was determined that he struck a guardrail, leading to the wreck, according to Kay. Sherman’s unidentified passenger was taken to Somerset Medical Center in Somerville for treatment of what Kay described as non life-threatening injuries. It wasn’t immediately clear if Sherman would be facing additional charges.

Efforts to reach Sherman for comment Monday were unsuccessful. The Murcielago model involved in the wreck — a two-door, two-seat coupe with a 575-horsepower V-12 engine capable of a listed top speed of 205 miles per hour — had a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of about $275,000 in 2002, but newer models today retail at prices ranging from about $350,000 to $415,000.

In the town I work at.

In Mission Viejo, a Lamborghini Murciellago collided with three other vehicles, including a BMW, on Alicia near Marguerite in Mission Viejo. A mechanic was test driving the Lamborghini about 7 p.m. when the pileup resulted. The sports car and a Honda erupted in flames.

He must have just been checking the AC, windshield wipers or something simple. If it was a real road test, it would have been down on Ortega Highway.

one should not increase, beyond what is necessary, the number of entities required to explain anything
