However, it is just giving me the most incomprehensible information and Wallwatcher's attempt to analyze them leads to nothing.
They look like the above.
These are all labeled "M" and they are simply messages generated by the router. I want to be able to see the actual traffic. I see no entries for incoming or outgoing at all in all of these entries. Nor do I see the activity on the local ports. No way to determine bandwidth usage or logs of internet sites visited.
Are there some settings I'm missing? |

 | I would contact the Mfr of the WallWatcher SW and ask. Thats there code, not D-Links. |

I finally got it to display the DIR-601 multicast stream connections, but that's it so far. |

 | reply to jmorlan Any information on how you did this would be help for here for future use. If it's not supported then you'll probably be on your own using it. I would find other alternate programs to use. |

Wall Watercher Optons | Router and tick "Auto-Select." It will scan for the correct or equivalent router. It came up with two suggestions and I chose "Untangle." Using the Dir-600 series router does not work.
On the router GUI go to Tools | Syslog Enable logging to Syslog Server and then enter the Syslog Server IP address.
Also on the router, go to Advanced | Access Control. Check Enable Access Control and create a policy. The policy I created is "Other machines" "Log Web Access Only" "Always" "Logged"
What I want is to view the log of the Internet Sessions. I haven't figured out how to do that yet. |

| reply to jmorlan Frankly I have my doubts that your router logs traffic and if it does given its a DLink it likely has very limited traffic logging, and ultimately this isn't so much a WallWatcher issue as a DLink issue as WallWatcher might be doing all that can be done with the information sent to it.
So I'd recommend using a tool that captures all syslog traffic in its raw form and then inspecting that to see if your router actually logs traffic before trying to find a traffic logging solution.
I can offer you a free syslog sniffer and instructions on how to use it to capture the raw syslog information here:
»linklogger.com/log_sniffer.htm
Try it out and see if your router actually sends traffic information in its logging stream and go from there.

jmorlanHmm... That's funny.Premium,MVM join:2001-02-05 Pacifica, CA kudos:4 | Thanks. Actually WebWatcher has a facility to capture raw syslog traffic. I did this last month and sent the output to the WebWatcher author, but never received a reply. He no longer supports the software, so not surprising.
I still have the log which I will send to the address on your web site. It remains unclear to me what the capture shows. |
