problem is, I didn't work in CA that year. I had moved back, but "technically" wasn't a resident, and since I was on Colorado UI for the entire time I had been back, when it came time to file, I filed resident of CO and didn't file anything for CA. So apparently, they "estimated" based on prior years...
Well they were gonna start deducting 25% of my checks starting on the 21st of this month...until I called 'em.
Got it reduced to only $50/paycheck until I can file a part-year-resident 540NR, then I gotta file an amendment to my CO state return too...
Man what a hassle. And in the mean-time I'm getting money taken out of my checks that will ultimately I'm sure be difficult to get back. I doubt they'll just include it in any refund from this years return...

And CA return is printed and ready to send off...For some reason they don't support e-filing old returns.

 | reply to FutureMon $87 total? Pay the mafia and be done with them! As for CA, they'll squeal when you file the amended return requesting the refund, but they'll give it up... |

When I originally filed only in CA, I deducted my moving expenses.
When I filled out that section on the CO form, they don't allow moving expenses, when your moving OUT of CO, only IN, so I had to remove $2400 of expenses which caused my liability to go up.
No biggie. At least it's done.
