| A good Clear (Clearwire?) Experience I've heard about the new minimum $35/mo. pricing plan. Bummer. Being a 6+ years customer who has been paying $24.99 plus $4 per month for 2 mbps Internet, I started up a chat on their web site and asked about my new billing amount. I was told my $24.99 plan would remain in effect AND they let me buy my modem (which I've leased for years) for $20. Now I'll be paying $24.99 only -- forever, I suppose. I hope.
Am I missing something? Here in Abilene, TX, we only get around 2 -- 3 mbps as our top speed (I tried to upgrade on the web site and it said I've already got the top upgrade speed). All in all, I'm happy with the chat session. Now if only we could get faster speed in this town!
Am I due for a major disappointment? |
 | I say enjoy the ride as long as you can!
IF ... the experience no longer meets your expectations ... you can always switch at that point. It appears you are no longer under "contract", so you should be able to move without penalties.
For being on the "lower" plan, they may cap your speed??? Not sure if you would get faster speeds if you bumped up to the unlimited speed plan. Unfortunately though you would probably have to pay current rates.
I am kind of in the same boat. I am a CLEAR "home internet" user with VOIP (unlimited calling to US and Canada) and unlimited internet for $60 (including taxes). To move to DSL would pop me up to $90 (including taxes) for the same features. I am going to hang on as long as I can with Clearwire. I am not a gamer or a video streamer though, so for me, Clearwire is great. |
