What does this password control?

I have an Actiontec router, model MI424WR.

Scrolling through some of my settings, I came across a password on the Broadband Connection (Coax) Properties page.

I can't dope out what that password "controls". It is not the password to log onto my router to change settings and it is not the WPA2 WiFi password.

I have never notices that password before and in two years of using this Actiontec router, have never had occasion to use it.

Does anyone know what it is the password to???

Many thanks

What led me to look into the Actiontec router settings was something new from OpenDNS called DNSCrpyt.

When I installed and enabled it, it would not work.

I had to opt to check a box for a work-around called DNSCrypt over TCP/43 (slower)

I learned this:
**********
The TCP/443 box disguises DNS queries as HTTPS queries. So if it works that way but not using the regular port, your router and/or your ISP is definitely intercepting your DNS traffic.

In your router settings, check for something like "enable internal DNS" or "enable DNS for internal network". It may be in the DHCP settings.
***********

I was trying to find that checkbox for "enable internal DNS" or "enable DNS", so that I could use DNSCrpyt without the work-around.

Any idea of where I might find those settings in my Actiontec prefs???

Thanks

Here is your image so everyone can see it in the thread.

The Manual says the Password is for the FiOS Coax Connection (I assume it would not connect if you don't have the right password and therefore it would not have a Internet connection):

Aha. So that's what that one is.

Many thanks for clearing that up for me.
