M.J. Now Blocking Anonymous Calls

Just upgraded one of my M.J. numbers to a M.J. Plus, tried calling it using *67 and the number from my cell and received a recording first touting Magic Talk then telling me my call could not be completed as the carrier failed to deliver my caller i.d. or it was blocked. Didn't find any other posts relating to this, is this something new?

Update, tried from my landline blocking the number and the M.J. rang showing anonymous. The exact message I receive from my cell (Sprint Carrier) when blocking is "If you would like to make or receive calls anywhere in the United States absolutely free. Simply visit Magictalk.com and begin making calls for free, it takes only seconds thats Magictalk.com... Your call cannot be completed as dialed your caller id is either being blocked or being delivered incorrectly by your carrier. Please arrange to have your number unrestricted with your carrier and dial your call again."

Yes a few months or so ago MJ decided not to put through blocked calls, kinda dumb if you ask me, but hey I don't own the company. Since everything comes down to money, all I can guess is somehow MJ doesnt get paid a termination fee if the call is blocked. I don't know this for sure, just an educated guess on my part.

This doesn't make sense. I'm in the same area as you, also on Cox, also with a MagicJack Plus, and when I call in from my cell phone while blocking it's phone number, my MagicJack connected desk phone displays a CallerID of Anonymous, I pickup the call and hear voice audio from the cell phone. No problem.

How is that even acceptable? Is that even legal? The service provider decide who can reach me? Tell me that isn't so! The choice of whether to receive calls with blocked number is mine, not service provider.

I finally got around to testing this and it's true, at least in my case. A regular call to my regular MJ # via my cell, no problem. A *67 call to the same # via my cell, not allowed to go through and I get the MagicTalk ad as mentioned in the original post. I do have a MagicTalk account (which they won't let me delete), so whether that has anything to do with it is anyone's guess.

As to whether it is legal and your chioce? Since the FCC is still apparently not categorizing MagicJack as a phone company, they have and apparently will continue doing pretty much what they please with impunity.

They are also blocking all Skype to MajicJack calls. That can't be legal!
MajicJack is a real ripoff!
