 | Netgear ProSafe SRX5308 or Cisco Small Business RV 220W I could need some advise on whether to chose the Cisco Small Business RV 220W router or the Netgear ProSafe SRX5308 Multi-WAN router.
Over at Smallnetbuilder.com the SRX5308 seems to feature superior hardware considering it's 700MHz clocked Cavium CN5010 CPU, 512MB DDR2 RAM and 64MB of flash compared to RV220W with it's 400MHz (?) clocked Cavium CN5010 CPU, 128MB DDR2 RAM and 32MB of flash.
I don't really need the multi-wan features of the SRX5308, and I don't need the wireless part of the RV220W, but I want a rock solid and stable router and the superior hardware of SRX5308 might give it an edge compared to the RV220W?
I've read some unfortunate reports on the SRX5308 having some wired performance number compared to the hardware? And I have read reports of people having the RV220W firmware only reportsing 64MB RAM instead of 120MB RAM.
Which one would you recommend me to get? Or is there some other models in the same price range that would offer better stability and performance? |

Or is there some other models in the same price range that would offer better stability and performance? I'll through a curve at U and suggest that You consider the ZyWALL USG50 if you're going to have less than 15 people access your network or the ZyWALL USG100 if you're going to have less than 25 people access your network.
Both of my suggestions are ROCK SOLID gear with outstanding warranty and support. -- David Mozer IT-Expert on Call Information Technology for Home and Business |
