| You missed the important part of the post, though. Make sure your RWIN setting is optimized. Win7 and other more modern O/Ss (or older but better designed ones like Linux) automatically scale the receive window in response to the environment.
In XP, RWIN is hard coded in the registry and can severely limit download speeds. You can use the tweak tool to measure the RWIN value and DrTCP to adjust it. Both can be found on the Tools section of this site.
Also note that RWIN is tied to the NIC. That is, if you have a wired adapter and a wireless one you'll need to adjust for both. |
