 | Panasonic TV as PC Monitor : NO SIGNAL message Hello, I have recently bought a 32" Panasonic TV Viera with a PC Input option. When I connect it to my desktop,( Windows 7) it starts booting until I get the Windows 7 display, then all of a sudden I see vertical lines of various colours flashing for a few fractions of a second and the screen goes black with a NO SIGNAL message. It works well on SAFE MODE, though. My computer is an oldish upgraded one and works otherwise perfectly . Any suggestions? Thanks Franco |

With the original monitor connected, change your Desktop Resolution to 640x480, 32-bit, and the Refresh Rate to 60Hz.
Save, shutdown, and connect the TV. Boot up, and then try raising the Resolution one step at a time (800x600, 1024x768, 1280x720, 1280x1024, etc.) until the TV fails to synch again... when it does, Wait 15 seconds, and Windows will revert back to the last "Good" setting.

| reply to ittiandro Agree w/Tursiops_G - probably out of range for the TV to handle.
One other trick if you don't want to connect to the old monitor - boot the pc, keep tapping F8 key as if you were trying to get to safe mode, and choose "Enable VGA Mode." This will boot to a pretty low res environment, but in "normal" mode (as opposed to safe mode). From there, you can set resolutions and experiment. |

| reply to ittiandro If all else fails, there's always the manuals.
I found this at the Panasonic web site, I don't know whether it's specifically your model:
Input resolution VGA (640×480 pixels), WVGA (852×480 pixels), XGA (1,024×768 pixels), WXGA (1,280×768 pixels)

Hopefully the native rez of the set is one of those dave listed or its not going to be at its optimum. -- Oh YES! let me drop everything i'm doing regardless of who it affects to deal with your petty little problem! |

 | reply to Tursiops_G Thank you a million! I have adjusted the resolution as you suggested and it works! I still can't, however, get any higher than 1024X768, probably because my computer is oldish ( 8 yrs or so) and I have an integrated video card. I should install a better quality, stand-alone video card, but my computer does not take PCI Express. So I have to live with it, I guess. Thank you again Franco |

I'd suggest looking up the exact specs for your particular Panasonic TV's model, and take note of it's NATIVE Resolution spec...
If it's higher than 1024x768 (probably something like 1280x768 or so), then you'll need to decide whether or not it's worth upgrading your Video card or the PC itself.
An 8 Yr. Old PC probably supports an AGP Video card... If So, Look on Amazon or eBay for one... Take Note of it's Model # and look it up on it's Vendor Website to see if it does support your monitor's Native res, and then decide if it's really worth the cost (I wouldn't spend more than $25 for one, IMHO)... or else consider saving your money for a New PC entirely...

 | reply to ittiandro I had that same problem with my Magnavox 47" CFL LCD 1080p TV. I formatted my main boot drive and reinstalled Windows 7 and that solved my problem right away. |
