[AT&T] I just got my AT&T HTC Titan (first impressions)

I just got the HTC Titan phone yesterday. This is my first impressions.
First thing I did was to charge the phone up. I didn't start any process on the phone and I didn't put the Sim card in yet. I let it charge and in like 4 hours it was fully charged.
I got my phone though Amazon Wireless and I dont know why they shipped an invalid sim card because when I try to use it is appears on display as invalid. I got the phone as an upgrade to my existing phone which was a Nokia 5800. Anyway, I put the Sim card from my Nokia in right away and it worked right away.
Observations on the phone itself....
It took me a little while to master the menus. How to get to setup, setup my email accounts. I could not get my contacts over from my Nokia Phone so luckily I had my contacts on Google and just using those as my contacts. I really didn't want to be logged into my Hotmail account but you need one to be able to download Apps and other stuff. I set myself as hidden on Hotmail and I filtered out contacts from there too.
Display looks pretty good to me. Phone feels nice holding it. With regard to call quality it seems like in my initial tests landlines sound much better than cell phone voice. I'm going to know I guess when someone is on a Cell phone.
I didn't get a chance to test phone voice quality extensively.
I did feel like the touch screen might be to sensitive. Sometimes holding the phone at the edges causes the screen to manipulate. I am like how did I get there why is that showing...
I not sure which bandwidth application to use to test bandwidth with. Can't do any flash or Java on this phone. Windows media Player and Silverlight are missing. I can't find any way to play any streaming media on this phone that uses Windows media and this is a windows phone...ha!
I applied for that $25 credit for Applications that Microsoft has.
Battery life is to early to tell but I was on the phone almost continuously for 5 hours and the battery life went to like half way from a full charge.
I like that the SAR rating is much much lower than my Nokia 5800. Less chance for a brain tumor, haha. That is all for now. Comments welcome.

Just an update found a screen protector and case I going to try. »www.amazon.com/Protector-Rubberi···1&sr=1-4
Another thing I notice is it very easy to bump the volume rocker control. Not being use to the phone yet. On my Nokia the volume control was a little tighter in that more effort to make it adjust.

No good speed testing apps. The best i've found is called bandwidth »www.windowsphone.com/en-US/apps/···7de2db9e

Protips: Pin everything that has notifications to the start menu. No other way for you to see that there is a notification if you miss the initial popup on top (which you can slide away).

Protip2: If you're pressing buttons in your pocket it won't matter. Camera button won't do anything if it's in your pocket. It uses the proximity sensor to detect if it's in your pocket or in your hands. If you hold the camera button for 3 seconds in your hand, it'll go straight to the camera even if it's asleep. Won't happen in your pocket. So bumping into volume/camera doesn't matter.

You can import contacts from sim card fairly easily. It can also sync with windows mail or gmail.

AT&T allows you to pay for your purchases in your cell phone bill. So you don't have to worry about using your hotmail account other than the initial marketplace login.

I didn't see a way to store all my contacts in the Sim card. I could only do it one by one on the old phone and when I got to the 3 one it would keep failing. I also noticed that when I try to retrieve to the new phone the two that work it was empty.

When I was talking about the Volume rocker control I was talking about just holding to phone and seems like it just easy to adjust it by accident. On my old Nokia the adjustment to toggle it just a bit stiffer so you have to make a conscience effort to change it. Not a big deal just have to get use to it.
Thanks for the tips.

I finally got my contacts squared away. Turns out the contacts were on the Sim card but just name one phone number. So I went through each one to make sure I had all the info.

Say how come I can't find dsl reports on Board Express?

I wanted to finish out this thread...
3 Titan in 30 days...My unfortunate story...
I went through Amazonwireless.com to get my upgrade. Each Titan ended up with the same issue. Ok, I could live with the voice quality issue because that is a reflection of product of HTC and AT&T for offering such a phone so no skin off my nose. However, each phone had the dreaded random power cycle/reboot issue. Tried firming up the sim card no go, Uninstalled all AT&T/HTC apps no go, operated the phone from a reset no additional apps installed, no go. There were a few times when I thought the phone was good when it would approach two days then came the dreaded power/reboot cycle. Sometimes it happen in the middle of the night based on the lastboottime app other times the phone was just sitting the table next to me while eating lunch I observed it Other times when I had the phone in my pocket I could feel it vibrating thinking it was a call but nope it was a power/reboot recycle.
After two exchanges and three Titans I opted to use my right to reverse my upgrade today and I am shipping the phones back. I find it hard to believe that the Titan is technically a sound phone since the most of the ratings I see on them are good on AT&T's web site and Amazon's website. Either people are not paying attention to their phone or just living with a potential issue that may make the phone go dark later.
I had the options to ship the phone to HTC but that would leave me without a phone for atleast 10 days and possibly more. And HTC customer support didn't give me the warm and fuzzy feeling since they knew nothing about these problems and the first time I called they put me on hold or dropped my call while I waited for someone to get back to me. So the Taiwanese crap is going back, I am back on my Nokia 5800 and I will wait out a few months to see what comes next.
thanks for reading all.

Sorry, I want to say something, so you can post after mine to finish out the thread.

IMO, stay away from HTC. There is too much hype with HTC phones. I owned 2 HTC phones that were both defective junk. I ended up sending one or both back to HTC (I don't remember) to be repaired, they didn't repair them or it, and them when I called them, they told me to send them or it back in for repair. The Rep then asked me (with one repair) if I could give a survey to state whether I was happy with my phone.

I believe that a new AT&T Nokia Windows phone just came out. Go for it.

Well I learned my lesson with HTC.
I am struggling between the Nokia Lumia 900 when that comes out or the Nokia 701. It unfortunate that I cant go to see the Nokia 701 somewhere because I can only find it at the stores on Amazon but they have a restocking fee if I decide to send it back. I have a better chance of seeing the 900 at an AT&T store when it finally comes. But then again I purchased my Nokia 5800 strictly based on reviews and information so I dont know what I am going to do.

To add to this I am also looking at the N8 because when it gets the new Belle OS it might be a better phone than the 701. decisions...
