| reply to sk1939 Alright, so I went around lunch today so I'll give my review here. The resteraunt and parking lot were fairly crowded, but it's easy enough to find being on the street (Blackhawk) next to the Audi dealership on Ogden coming from I-355.
The resteraunt is somewhat classical in decor, nicely done giving a sort of lodge feeling; it was also relatively crowded. The crowd for lunch tended to be older people (senior citizens), although there were some younger people there as well. Parking was somewhat limited and was a bit of a challenge. The waitresses are nice enough and are either German/Austrian or Czech interestingly enough (at least most of them, and speak their respective languages), and they all wear traditional Bavarian costumes. The resteraunt gets it's name from a really beautiful collection of Bohemian crystal goblets, pitchers, and such by the entrance (in a display case).
For lunch I ordered the 1/2 duck, sauerkraut, broiled potatoes, beef noodle soup, and apple strudel for desert. Coffee/Tea and desert were complementary. As far as the food goes I would say that the sauerkraut was good (for sauerkraut), but was servered hot (something I was not expecting). The duck was good, very tender, but was lacking in flavor if your used to eating highly seasoned food, or good Peking duck. Broiled potatoes are broiled potates, and they give you a boat of gravy per person if you order potates (broiled or mash). Do not get the green beans. The beef noodle soup was quite good, although it is clearly an appetizer since it was only about 1 cup. There were something like 3 chunks of beef in the soup, and quite a bit of noodles. The strudel was good, a bit doughy, topped with powdered sugar and filled with apples (fresh from what I could tell). All the above cost me about $15 + tip, so I would say the prices are quite fair, you certaily get a lot of food for the money; my lunch companion ordered something that consisted of three slices of ham and they were quite generous. |
 | reply to sk1939 I've had the roast pork and wiener schnitzel at BC, both were pretty good. Those Czech places always give you a ton of food with the meal, so go when you have a good appetite. -- What if the Hokey Pokey really IS what it's all about? |
