When the spec for a new boiler is presented, I'd question how that spec was developed. "We spec'd the new one at X because it's the same size / number of elements as the old one" is the exact wrong answer. "What did you come up with for a radiation total" would be a good question to ask so as to ascertain that a radiation survey had been done. After the above is determined, the water question should be calc'd.
Too big a boiler, too little a boiler or lack of knowledge of gravity system boilers (if applicable) often & usually = huge problems later on. |
